A man worth $15,000,000.00 who lives on a 20,000 acre estate is a “victim”? Really?

http://bluntandcranky.wordpress.com/2013/12/20/a-man-worth-15000000-00-who-lives-on-a-20000-acre-estate-is-a-victim-really/

" One more time, everybody, all together: “Bull-F***ING-S***”. Phil Robertson is not a victim: he is a multimillionaire with an enormous estate, an entrepreneur and tireless self-promoter who has worked hard to earn his considerable riches. He is a shrewd manipulator of people and this writer would not be at all surprised if this recent blowup turned out to be a huge, carefully scripted publicity stunt. You know, like the whole Duck Dynasty media behemoth.

The beards, the redneck schtick? All scripted and perfectly crafted to sell in the current market. This family made millions of dollars before the TV show, and looked like the friggin’ Romneys:

Yep, yuppies. That is the Robertson clan when they WEREN’T acting. But they are acting now.

And actors play parts. Salesmen sell products. That means, Gentle Reader, that you can’t take anything Phil says at face value. He is ACTING. And he is SELLING. So maybe he meant all that revolting s*** he spewed, maybe not, but there is a strong likelihood that it was all done on purpose, to create a buzz and increase ratings.

No way is Phil Robertson a victim. He is shrewd, wealthy and powerful, and is set for life. You want to talk victims? How about the veterans who are getting their pensions and bennies cut, or the kids that lost their food stamps and are now even hungrier?

They are REAL victims. Phil is not one of them. "

so if there's a guy on your neighborhood corner calling all non-bigots liars thieves traitors and sluts all day and you don't tell him he's full of shit then pretty soon it's acceptable. and you could be in the same boat. that started to happen here about 20 ears ago.

in this country maybe 30% of our major state funded colleges endorse RW radio by accepting a few dollars in licensing revenues for the privilege of riding the team mascot. every night.

hate and fear is the driving force behind racism's stupidity and ignorance. Racism has been here since before 1776. RW radio is a relatively new part of the equation and it has helped spread the news that 'the others' are to be feared and hated. I've been telling racist idiots to go back in their holes since the 60's. A lot of people have been telling racist's to go back into their holes for many generations. They are still here and seem to be more prolific than ever. limpig, beckerhead, palin, o'really and the rest of that ilk are nothing new, they are just using the tools available. They are the klan with their hoods off now. They do not care who sees the face behind the hate. Been dealing with this shit for a long time. Hate radio is just ONE MORE TOOL used by hateful people to spread their garbage. I reiterate, 47% of amerikkkans voted for romshit, that'sa lot of bigots. Ducky D just said out loud what that 47% were voting for. Have a good one.

e always been there as you say.

RW radio allows the think tanks to amplify and coordinate and focus the hate for the benefit of the republicans and corporations- for the purpose of selling war, deregulation, tax breaks for billionaires, and global warming denial.

the left ignoresRW radio- the most important tool (by far) in their propaganda model and evaluate and strategize in a talk radio paradigm without realizing it, playing catch up and reacting after the lies have been pounded into the earholes of 50 mil a week. not factoring in RW radio is stupid- the biggest political mistake in history.

its as if they put carnival barkers on every corner and stump in the country and they're there screaming your sister's a whore your brother's a thief and your ideas and treasonous and the left just walks by.

the bigotry has always been there but the RW radio monopoly, because the left ignores it, makes it and it's more extreme forms acceptable.

The left on here does not miss or ignore racism, homophobia, bigotry of all types. The 50 million that listen to hate radio and television do so because they want to. No amount of education or truth is going to sway 98% of them. They have always been with us and I fear will ALWAYS be with us lacking a positive evolutionary jump where they will be left behind. I hope. Have a happy holiday and new year.

and that he expected the show to go on without him. In that light, I think the current brouhaha is a carefully crafted publicity stunt, and a successful one at that. Look at how he is dominating the news (even here at DU), much as Miley Cyrus did after her twerking performance. Basically, he was planning to leave anyway, but he has orchestrated his exit so that he looks as if he is being "forced out", in the interest of stirring up maximum outrage and ratings.

Asked how much longer he plans to be involved, the bearded, camo-wearing duck hunter replies, "Not long." But that doesn't mean the series will end. "I think it'll go on without me," he muses."...

in my neck of the woods, where the papers feature pictures of local children kneeling beside their 'first buck of the season' --usually laid out beside them, dead and bloody. Camouflage and other hunting garb is de rigueur. So, are we surprised that these "local" folk -- many of whom are abjectly poor -- enjoy watching a show that features a family that looks like them and goes hunting? The implicit message is that they, too, can be wealthy -- if they work hard and invent something that everyone wants...

BTW, the racism and homophobia from the patriarch of this clan is ubiquitous among those who 'love' this show. I doubt sincerely that his hateful words will spell the end for Duck Dynasty.

Actually, I think Limbaugh's continued 'success' is attributable to the significant percentage of people who feel the need to justify their fear-mongering and hate-mongering without examining how much they disrespect themselves first and foremost by promulgating such vile garbage. Low self-esteem? Self-hate? I am getting tired of hearing all these excuses, especially from anonymous people who fly their verbal bully flags online (even in this forum). The sexism, racism, and homophobia we're seeing hurts my heart, and makes me doubt that our species can do what it takes to survive our imminent extinction event.

Jesus did not call himself Christian this title was given to him by his followers long after his death.
These educated bigots do more to harm their fellow man, as they spread hatred and ignorance to all those who want to feel better about their own emptiness.

It's a crass commercial move to provoke useless controversy in the media just to get the ultra-conservatives conned into buying their junk as if it were patriotic or something.

There is a deep streak in American culture that delights in being stupid and being proud of being stupid. They latch onto Palin and Duck Robertson and Ted machine gun Nugent and other dimwits to distinguish themselves from the rest of America in the only way they are capable of.
