Oh, Jesus Christ on a soda cracker: Phil Robertson compared to Rosa Parks.

http://bluntandcranky.wordpress.com/2013/12/20/oh-jesus-christ-on-a-soda-cracker-phil-robertson-compared-to-rosa-parks/

Nope, not making this up. From the article:

Embattled “Duck Dynasty” star Phil Robertson has been suspended from his show by A&E for his remarks about gays and African-Americans, and now some high-profile conservatives are rallying to his side and defending him. On Friday, GOP congressional candidate Ian Bayne went all in, comparing Robertson to civil rights icon Rosa Parks.

“In December 1955, Rosa Parks took a stand against an unjust societal persecution of black people, and in December 2013, Robertson took a stand against persecution of Christians,” Bayne said in an email to supporters.

Yeah, because a privileged multimillionaire who hates gays and wants God to send them all to Hell is exactly like an oppressed Black working woman who was tired of being oppressed.

Can we take up a collection to buy these Wingnut politicians and pundits a nice Christmas basket full of clues?

It's like comparing Hitler to Helen Keller...after all, they both were very determined.

Slap the person who made that comparison silly, I say...then point and mock 'em. Then spend a lot of money banishing the dumbfuck from public life. Start with OPPO research...I'll bet it will turn up exploitable indiscretions.

Bayne defends Robertson by comparing him to a civil rights icon who famously stood up against the very oppression which Robertson claims never existed; that claim being part of the reason why Bayne needed to defend Robertson in the first place.

This whole story is just collapsing into a black hole of stupid.

...this racist asshole's comments about blacks:

<...>

Here is what Robertson said in the GQ interview:

I never, with my eyes, saw the mistreatment of any black person. Not once. Where we lived was all farmers. The blacks worked for the farmers. I hoed cotton with them. I'm with the blacks, because we're white trash. We're going across the field. ... They're singing and happy. I never heard one of them, one black person, say, 'I tell you what: These doggone white people' -- not a word!... Pre-entitlement, pre-welfare, you say: Were they happy? They were godly; they were happy; no one was singing the blues.

I guess some would say that is the height of irony. That person compared Phil Robertson to an icon of the Civil Rights Movement. Phil Robertson seems to think there was no need for the Civil Rights Movement.

I do wonder if this person is doing this just to get votes for conservatives.

Seriously?! Fox News Guest Compares Duck Dynasty Star to Martin Luther King Jr. (Video)

Howard Crane in Fox News Lies, Videos
December 19, 2013

On Thursday, Fox News discussed the termination of Duck Dynasty’s Phil Robertson. A panel of three, including conservative radio host Mike Slater, spoke about the suspension over Robertson’s anti-gay remarks during an interview with GQ. Slater then baffled us with a bizarre analogy comparing the homophobic Robertson to Civil Rights leader Martin Luther King Jr.

“In 1958, a young boy wrote a preacher a letter, saying that he was struggling with homosexuality and this preacher wrote back, ‘Son, don’t worry, there’s a solution to your problem.’ That preacher was Martin Luther King Jr,” Slater said.

“I guarantee you that Martin Luther King Jr. loves that boy just like Robertson,” he continued. “The point is the Robertson family loves everyone, that’s the point here.”

Richard Fowler, a liberal radio host laughed as he responded. “That stretches just way too far, that is a total straw man. Beyond that, this GQ interview was loaded with hatred. It’s not only his talk about homosexuality, but he goes on to talk about how African-Americans were doing pretty well during Jim Crow.” -
