Bill Koch does not like shady people.

Florida billionaire: I spent $4.5 million on fake wine

{Bill Koch) tells Martha Teichner that he has been spent $4.5 million on 421 bottles that were revealed to be fake wine and possibly an additional $1 million on up to 100 bottles that may be forgeries. "It's a pretty big swindle," he says.

Yes, wine lovers this story is for you.

Koch is fighting back through lawsuits that have cost him $25 million.

"I'm tired of the aggravation of being violated by these con artists and crooks," he says.

$4.5 million on 421 bottles of wine.

How is paying $107,000 for a bottle of wine NOT some kind of scam?

Seriously Bill, if you have $107,000 to spend on not just ONE bottle of very expensive wine, but 421 of them, then how about sending your fake nephew a very small check for $36,000 this Christmas?

For that sum, I would be happy to write a biography of you.

In fact, why don't you just move to some deserted island and make us all happy?

Predators stealing peoples' retirement accounts, their jobs, their kids' futures-- that's a problem.
To paraphrase Robin Williams, buying a six figure bottle of wine (let alone a few hundred of them) is god's way of telling you you have too much money.

Now that's rich!

This news calls for a toast with Two Buck Chuck--Which, apparently, is a better vintage than Koch got.

I recently read in The Drunkards Walk that researchers tested the ability of big wheel nationally known wine experts by offering them two glasses of wine; one of which was a ten dollar a bottle sample and the other a one hundred dollar a bottle sample. Their responses were predictable. The expensive wine was much better for any of number of wine expert reasons. The samples of course all came from the same bottle.

Selling our own affectations back to us is the biggest swindle of all.
