Dear Sir or Madam -
As an avid watcher of A & E, I wanted to weigh in on your decision to suspend indefinitely Phil Robertson for his bigoted public comments.
Phil Robertson represents your channel, and is an employee of your channel. As a representative of your channel he has the responsibility of representing your channel in such a way as A & E would wish to be represented. His derogatory comments about gays (who are a part of your audience), and his insistence on pushing his bigoted religious beliefs on others, whether in the program or outside of it, give watchers the impression that A & E is promoting anti-gay comments and pushing a religious agenda.
You have done the correct thing in suspending this man, and making it clear that you do not agree in any way, shape, or form, with the beliefs of this religious bigot. To have done otherwise would have been to condone his beliefs, and defend his bigoted and religious beliefs as though these were A & E’s.
Thank you for doing this. You have made it crystal clear that A & E is a channel for everyone; inclusive, and that A & E makes a stand against bigotry.
