Too sad for her family

DENVER - Claire Esther Davis, the Arapahoe High School student shot in last Friday's school shooting, was taken off life support Saturday, after several days in a coma, and has died from her injuries.

She died at 4:29 p.m., according to the hospital.

Davis, 17, was shot in the head by another student with a shotgun at point-blank range at the school on Dec. 13, Arapahoe County Sheriff Grayson Robinson said.

One of my favorite guitar men and bands. Song was written about Claire, before she was even born.

Incidentally Dave plays lead guitar and accordion on this classic.

I heart Los Lobos - one of the best American bands ever.

So many of their songs, including the one in the video, are so intricate and well-rendered. There's another one on that CD called "Hardest Time" that's also very melancholy and heart-felt. Listening carefully gives me chills. The whole group, and David Hidalgo in particular, are among the things that make life better just by listening in.

Congrats on enjoying that slice of life in Denver. Are/were you part of a concert promotion team, or a professional driver??

KBCO = Boulder Colorado

The station used to do a huge promotion at the Boulder Reservoir called Kinetics - that year Los Lobos played and I was in charge of them. Used to be a promotion/marketing director for a chain to huge record stores before going into radio.

She was most likely brain dead immediately after the shooting. Perhaps life support allowed them to harvest organs. So very sad.
