Does anybody know how to post one of those maps so members can make with pins where they are and what the weather there is doing?
Greater metro Omaha currently has light snow. We had no snow, ice, or rain last weekend when the East coast got the round one snow storm.

(26,177 posts)Genesee County has about 20,000 without power. Lots of downed trees and power lines. I've been lucky, so far. I lost my only compromised tree in last month's wind storm and from what I can see at first light, the rest are standing, with limbs in tact.
Our air temp stayed at about 34, in Flint Township, so that somewhat mitigated the damage. We have some scattered power outages but nothing like in the more rural areas.
The power company and road crews are already hard at work so hopefully people won't be in the cold/dark for long.

(15,499 posts)still an icy drizzle, temps have been at 32o all night and this morning. Weather newscasts reporting 80,000 without power (not me, thankfully) but mostly in northern Oakland. It's supposed to get up to 38o today and I'm hoping the roads are OK because I have to pick someone up at the airport early evening.
I'd rather have snow.

(26,177 posts)But, at least it's above freezing. I am seeing a little bit of melting from the trees and our chance of more precipitation is down to about 30%. Hopefully, hopefully, hopefully things will only improve.
I bet a lot of people were planning airport runs, today. I live close to Flint's airport but haven't heard any flights, today. But, the airport's web site says everything is on time.

(15,499 posts)I hate going there even in good weather. It's about an hour's drive for me, but I'll plan for more for today.

(36,063 posts)At this point there is no doubt about a white christmas in this area, or any doubt about kids being able to sled, and get completely soaked and cold to the bone during their holiday break from school.
Like those immortal lyrics..."since we've got no place to go....let it snow, let it snow, let it snow..."

(36,063 posts)City plow just came by and filled the end of the drive...so I have no reason to put it off any longer.
But first must search the frig for that tiny bottle of nitro pills.

(37,449 posts)calling for thunderstorms. There was a good snow melt overnight. Even the deer are a little whacked out all night my local herd kept running between my house and my neighbors setting off the motion sensor lights.

(5,808 posts)Highs in the 70s but cooler temps headed this way so by Tuesday highs will be more seasonal. 50s in the daytime and 30s at night. But right now the front is moving through with a ton of wind and warm temps. Humidity feels like being wrapped in a wet blanket! I'll be really glad when it has moved on through. Traveling on Tuesday to Jackson, MS and the weather then is forecast to be OK. It doesn't feel like Christmas when we're running around in shorts and tee shirts!
Happy Holidays to all whether you're celebrating Christmas or some other special time. Or not. Just enjoy!

(60,300 posts)Flooding everywhere though. We had more than 3 inches of hard cold rain Saturday. My sump pump failed last night, fortunately I discovered it before I had a flooded basement. Water was about to top the pit.
Just what I needed 4 days before Christmas $200 for a new Sump Pump. Couldn't find a cheaper model.
The construction they did on the road in front of my house this fall caused my neighbors and my yards to flood. Not sure what to do about that.

(7,658 posts)It's colder here than many people seem to think. We're a mile high and closer to being like a southern Denver than some place really hot like Phoenix or Las Vegas. High about 40 today then back to mid to upper 40 's (IOW, normal for winter) the rest of the week. Lots of sunshine. We got a dusting of snow a couple of nights ago, btw.

(1,977 posts)It is 68 degrees, gray skies and humid. Tuesday night it is supposed to go down to 16 degrees. Normally I'm in New Hampshire spending the holiday with my sister, brother-in-law and the labs. My sister and her husband went to Utah to spend the holiday with her son and his girlfriend. So I'll be here in NY with friends. I was joking with my sister that I'm going to miss the labs the most. The dogs are great on Christmas morning when they get their gifts from "Santa Paws"

(10,440 posts)Gonna be around 60 here in Grass Valley, about 1500 feet in the foothills. We are doomed.
At the ski resorts, they are doomed. No snow for Thanksgiving and now none for Christmas. Doomed. lots of people laid off, some have left for whiter pastures. No snow to speak of and the daytime temps are too high for what they make to keep over the daytime.
No snow and the farmers are doomed.

(46,436 posts)No wind. It looks like winter wonderland around here...we've had close to a foot of snow this week. The trees and everything look magical with the frost and snow.

(99,069 posts)...WIND CHILL ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 6 AM TO NOON CST MONDAY...
THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN OMAHA/VALLEY HAS ISSUED A WIND CHILL ADVISORY...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 6 AM TO NOON CST MONDAY.
* WIND CHILL VALUES...INDICES FROM 20 TO 25 BELOW ZERO ARE EXPECTED MONDAY MORNING.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
A WIND CHILL ADVISORY MEANS THAT VERY COLD AIR AND STRONG WINDS WILL COMBINE TO GENERATE LOW WIND CHILLS. THIS WILL RESULT IN FROST BITE AND LEAD TO HYPOTHERMIA IF PRECAUTIONS ARE NOT TAKEN. IF YOU MUST VENTURE OUTDOORS...MAKE SURE YOU WEAR A HAT AND GLOVES.
