I hope that all those who celebrate the holiday, whatever you call it, have a peaceful one, full of loved ones and merriment. My mother-in-law will be home from the convalescent care transitional center, and all three of her daughters will be on hand. I'll be making a ham and whatever side dishes come to mind and we'll have a quiet (I hope) gathering.
My parents, whom I recently visited, will celebrate with my siblings who still live in my old hometown. My parents are 89 years old, and I'm glad I could go to see them just before Christmas.
My nieces and nephews and their offspring will be celebrating this year where they live, due to the high cost of travel, and I wish them a happy holiday (our presents will be a few days late, due to my wife's mother's illness.)
I'm a couple of days early, but:
Happy Holidays to everyone on DU!

(21,737 posts)Our family already had the big get-together last weekend, so this Christmas Day will be kinda anti-climatic. Just a quiet dinner and exchange of presents with my mother. Phone calls to other loved ones and friends, too.
