I came on board Sat Jul 26, 2003, at 08:55 PM CDT. A College teacher told me about the site.
I was at first Lady Freedom. But something happened with the upgrade and I resigned in as Lady Freedom Returns.
A lot has happen in that 10 years. From being a bright eyed college student to finding out what kind of hardships many go through in this country. I am now on an up swing.
Thanks to a DES case worker knowing someone in the Dept of Education I can start making a hardship payment plan. I pay at less $5 a month for the next 6 months and I will be able to get my Transcripts!
My place will be ready on Jan. 29th. I started work on the 24th. of this month. I also have a line on a second job as a shot girt two nights a week.
Have to admit, I never saw such results coming so fast! Thank you all for the good Vibs! It is the only thing I can think of causing such good things!
I know others have many a story of how things have change for them over the time they have been on DU and I hope many will post their stories here!

(14,120 posts)I came on this board when I was a bright eyed sophomore! I was the P.R officer for the College Democrats and an active protester against the Iraq and Afghan war. Wow!

(23,266 posts)Oct. 24, 2003. Found this site via Top 10 Conservative Idiots. I was very frustrated and almost bought the conservative lie that all Progressives were stupid, naïve criminals. Hated bush, needed proof of conservative assholery. This site has been a shining light for me.

(14,120 posts)What ever happen to that? I haven't seen that for a while. I also miss the hate mailbag.

Do a search at the top of this page for "top ten". The archives will come up.

(14,120 posts)That place is RED red! I got my Liberal ideas from my late mom. She was from Vallejo CA. Not the typical kind of Woman for a Preacher to pick as a wife at that time.
I was tormented all the time for what I believed. Heck I remember once we had a Protest against the Afghan and Iraq wars on the college campus. It was what is known as a silent protest. We said nothing, we let the tape on our mouths and the signs talk for us.It was fun that some jerk brought tomatoes...( yes the "fun part is )
Thank goodness Campus Security stopped him fast, One of my fellow protesters was also a cheerleader who's boyfriend took offense to the tomato thing.
Ah! Those were the Days!

(7,719 posts)....been here since 2001, but didn't post much at first. After about 3 yrs I would still have people saying that. I think its kinda become a spoof thing to do nowadays.
Anyway, congrats on hittin ten yrs, and god willing, in twenty we'll still be around!

(4,309 posts)It was about 10 years ago when I had my "liberal awakening" with my revulsion at Bush and the Iraq war. I attended my first demonstration, the March For Women's Lives, in April 2004. 2004 was also the year of my divorce and all the problems that came with it.
Glad to say that today I'm happily divorced/single and have a wonderful 24 year old daughter who shares my love of progressive politics.
Happy that the good vibes are coming your way and best wishes for a great 2014. And, of course, PEACE!
