http://www.people-press.org/political-party-quiz/It tells you where you fit into the political spectrum, left to right. Around here, it's not new. I end up "very liberal". This is compared to others who take the test. Still it's disturbing. I was raised in Europe as a conservative monarchist. I read DU nearly every day and there are a lot of people way more liberal than I. They would be off the left scale in this test.
Of course, a conservative in these times is somebody out to destroy stuff, not to "conserve" it.

(45,558 posts)There was a smidgen patch f blue between where I stood and the most liberal end...

spin
(17,493 posts)Not really all that surprising as I come from a long line of Democrats.

(16,076 posts)And I don't really feel like I'm all that far left. I've always seen myself as fairly moderate, though my husband informs me I've never been anything other than a hard leftie.
I guess it shows how far to the right the dialog has been pushed.

(28,394 posts)Almost the whole way to the left. But I already knew that.

(14,691 posts)I don't know about this quiz - it doesn't show the Tea Party as off the chart. There's still some red to the right of it.

(882 posts)According to that graph, that puts me closest to the 18-29 year old black female demographic. Never thought of it like that before.
Blue_In_AK
(46,436 posts)about an eighth of an inch from the left edge (on the iPad screen). I'm way to the left of all the demographics.

(1,548 posts)I,ma bit to the left of the average Dem.

(26,549 posts)And I would like complain about one of their questions.
"Never Doubt the existence of God" - Agree moves you right. Disagree moves you left. First, being religious shouldn't automatically move one right. Second, plenty of us filthy atheists have no doubts about the non-existence of God, yet saying so on this quiz moves us right.

(8,217 posts)Then again, it just doesn't have enough nuance to it. Even when my answers are all in the "Mostly" agree or disagree.
Egalitarian Thug
(12,448 posts)of the scale than I am to the Liberal Democrat marker. And I'm much closer to the end of the left than the Teahaddists are to the right.
Not a very likely representation of reality.

Among other things, it plots affiliation on an x/y economic/social axis, which is more relevant to Western politics than a simple spectrum. Enjoy!

(9,033 posts)Much better, and more accurate results.
Also very instructive to see where you stand visavis Our Leaders (I do wish they would include past presidents like FDR, Eisenhower, Nixon--that would really be telling).

(46,179 posts)I'm at the edge of the left on the continuum for "overall, and "economic issues." I'm still on the left end in dark blue on social issues, but am about an 8th of an inch further from the edge.
I'm much farther to the left than any demographic group.
This is not a surprise.
Where do you fall on the political compass? I always end up somewhere to the left and south of Gandhi.
