Being as I'm from the NW, I really don't get excited about Pac 12 teams from California making it to the Rose Bowl. Michigan State deserved this.

6. I went to school at Iowa but grew up in a Spartan family...

My late father was a professor at MSU the last time they went to the Rose Bowl. I still remember going to many games with him back in the 70's including the big one where they had the Big Ten Office unofficially do the first video review of the last play of the game to see if Archie Griffin scored for Ohio State when the Spartans upset them back in 1975. That was a game I'll never forget attending! I'm hoping Dad is smiling from where he's at now...

Wish the Hawkeyes could also have taken their record to 2-0 versus the LSU tigers today, but oh well...

I think I still remember seeing Thom Hartmann managing the Stereo Shoppe downtown there when looking for a stereo back in 1976 before I shipped off to Iowa City then...

My dad would have been so happy and proud of his Spartans.

I may not have gone there, but my family is a Spartan family. Dad went there and worked there for 37 years, Mom went there for her teaching cert, Stepmom went there for BA and MA, Brother went there for BS and first MS, SIL went there for BS and MS, and even my stepmom's dad played for them and the Lions. First thing I learned in my stepmom's family were all the words to the MSU fight song (which I got to sing quite a few times today!).

Y'all broke my heart but when it comes time for bowl games, it's Big Ten all the way! (Well, except for one team whose name I won't mention.) The Spartan defense was magnificent, just as advertised. A well deserved win.
