Britain CAN still stop impending 'wave of immigration', Tory activists claim

"We would get into trouble with the European Union - so what?" - James Joshua, of Conservative Grassroots

Conservative Grassroots, a network of party members, support an amendment that would prolong the restrictions on those from the two countries, rather than scrap them on New Year's Day.

The Prime Minister has come under mounting pressure from his own party to take action, following concerns that full access to the UK labour market would prompt a "wave of mass immigration" from Wednesday.

However, a top adviser to the Romanian prime minister, Victor Ponta, said Britain should be more concerned about bankers who steal billions, rather than Roma beggars.

Something tells me that members of the "Conservative Grassroots" are more worried about citizens of Romania and Bulgaria than they are about their own "bankers who steal billions". Conservatives always seem to fear and worry about the poor 'thems' rather than the rich 'us'.

There is little reason to agree with them on either sentiment, as usual.
