Watching the de Blasio press conference

I must say I'm impressed with preparations.
Alternate parking suspended. Extra meals sent to senior homes to cover them until Monday.
Cuomo has declared a state of emergency.

By the way England is preparing for one hell of a storm with hurricane winds this weekend.

I hope that London protection holds. One of these days the increasing number of storms and the increasing intensity will test that system.

Stay safe everyone - it's lovely in Jamaica - just returned from my evening walk (in shorts and a Tee shirt)

and the temperatures are going to drop to a high of -7 by Monday (Chicago). Our poor building maintenance guy, Luis, returns early next week from his first Christmas trip back to visit family in Mexico in many years--he'll be facing a deep freeze after two weeks of warmth and happiness, and the kind of crappy job his substitutes have done in keeping the drive and walkways clear. We miss you, Luis! Please come back!

But it's so hard to go away somewhere warm and then come back to hell frozen over.

They're praising the Mayor big time.

He made some really compassionate comments about dealing with the homeless and elderly.

I opened the door to let a cat outside and got hit with a blast of ice cold air..
the cat did a U-turn in mid leap, heading back for the couch.

the wind has picked up, coming from the north and the temps dropped like a rock this past hour.
Lows will get into the high 20's.
Some "semi-tropical : clime I live in, what?

"sustained 15 to 25 mph with frequent gusts of 30 to 35 mph."

That is pretty windy for this area. We usually are dead calml unless a storm is approaching.

so, malaise, take a few extra shorts clad steps on your balmy walk, for me, eh?

Remember I already had my dose of snow in Binghamton for Thanksgiving weekend.
They're still laughing at me because they know I hate the cold and the snow.
10-14 inches and look at those temperatures - I'll pass.
Stay safe
