Publix likes Phil

Been having a back-and-forth with Publix's here in Florida and their selling Duck Dynasty crap.
Thought, I'd share a letter they sent explaining why they are selling the DD junk:

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We regret that we have failed to meet your expectations. We would never knowingly disappoint our customers. We appreciate the trust you have placed in us to rectify the situation.

Publix is a company that cares about its customers and we work hard to create a pleasant shopping experience. It is our mission to do our very best to satisfy all Publix customers; unfortunately in today’s complex world this is not always an easy task. Your comments, along with those from other customers, will be shared with the appropriate department and considered during our category review process. Since the products we carry are based on customer demand, when sales for specific items decline, we remove those items and bring in new products. At this time, we have made no changes to our product offerings or advertising agreements based on the current situation.

If we may be of further assistance in this matter, please do not hesitate to contact our customer care specialist at 1-800-242-1227. You may also contact us via email at www.publix.com/contact or write us at Publix Super Markets, Inc., P.O. Box 407, Lakeland, FL 33802, ATTN: Customer Care

Apparently what I thought was an up-scale store, wants to make sure its customers are able to get their DD products for their 15 year old daughter's wedding.

1. You might want to put DD or Duck Dynasty in the headline. I had no idea what you were talking

about and usually I don't click on stories if I don't understand the topic. I only did because i've been watching Publix because a couple of years ago they sponsored something ALEC had at one of their conventions and I want to know if they're a neo-con supporter. I'm glad you found out their position on DD. Thanks

2. As A Long Time Resident Of Florida...

and the place where my husband was born, Publix is probably the oldest grocery store chain in this state. My mother-in-law worked there for many many years a very long time ago. Many of his relatives also have worked there and for the most part almost EVERYONE one of them are Repukes. Excluding my mother-in-law. His parents were always Democrats as is my husband, but he has one brother who is "otherwise!"

I have yet to Google them, but like some other places like CVS which used to be Eckert's, pretty much Repuke bent! My grandson goes to college at FSU and the Koch Brothers have their fingers dug in deep on who gets hired there and who doesn't.

I moved here back in the early 70's and at that time Florida was much more Democratic, although not liberal like I am. Reuben Askew was Governor when I moved here, then we have Lawton Chiles, also Bob Graham... but it seems the state turned more Red around the time of Reagan. However, I was surprised that Charlie Crist who ran as a Repuke and won was actually not a bad Governor. Right now, we have one of the VERY WORST Governors I've ever seen here, and I have believed for a long time that Jeb Bush has a lot to do with what goes on in this state.

Sorry, got off topic... but I think it would be hard to find any grocery chain that leans left here in Florida. And Publix is one that I've always viewed with an (R) inserted into how the business is run. But, unless things have changed a great deal, they actually have treated their employees well and pay a fair wage with benefits. Perhaps that's changed now. Still, I'm sure they contribute $$$ to many Repukes all the time.

I concur with you about the selective nature of what they sell, I've noticed it myself. But unlike Walmart, Publix is probably not worried much about what you have to say. They've outlasted many grocery stores that have started here from time to time. Personally, I'm thrilled that we FINALLY have a COSTCO close by. And I'm extremely surprised that this county actually let it happen! My county is a bastion of the rich and is either 2nd or 3rd in per capita income in this state. I'm most definitely NOT one of them.

And if you've looked around, Publix is building more and more stores all over. They just redid the one about a minute away from me. There's also one about 5 miles away, 4 miles away and maybe another 5 miles in another direction. They's gots the $$$!

I think I'll Google the back story, but it might just be the first chain grocery store that started in Florida. Whatta ya gonna do? You know, money and how it talks and all that!

Winn-Dixie has its origins in Florida beginning in 1927, Publix in 1930.

Granted, the chain that is now Winn-Dixie wasn't called that in '27, as the founder bought his first grocery store in Miami in 1925 and 2 years later it was called "Table Supply".

As far as their corporate politics are concerned, they are behind the curve on LGTB rights, but other than that, seem rather middle of the road.

In many ways they are similar to Costco in that they rate very well on the list of best companies to work for as well as offering good benefits and decent pay to their workers. Most that have been there only a couple years are usually very happy to stay. At least the ones that I talk to are.

that I have been in. Publix is also an employee owned company. I disagree with what Phil Robertson said but there is no law against saying stupid stuff. If redneck nitwits want to buy
DD junk I don't give a flying f---k. I forced myself to watch a couple episodes of that show. I thought it was the stupidest program I ever saw and wouldn't worry much about anyone stupid enough to buy their junk. If some people think Sarah Palin and the DD bunch are geniuses I couldn't care less. The more we protest the more it re-enforces their bigoted beliefs. Faux News thrives on making fun of liburals.

You know, money and how it talks and all that!

How true- Sorry to hear Pubix is in the Repukes camp. Need to write a letter to Cosco imploring them to build here.
