Pictures of my furbabies Mousie and Scat:

This is the link to the backstory on Mousie and her medical problems. http://www.democraticunderground.com/10024269951
People have been great with help in many forms. I have almost made it. I wanted to post this because I know people want to know if I am being reasonable about her treatment. That's a valid question.
Mousie

Scat

They are sisters that were found in a dumpster. They were so tiny when I got them that they couldn't get in a regular litter box. I had to get an aluminum pan from the grocery store to use.

I have had many pets and the bottom line for me is providing them with a good quality of life. As hard as it is, I have never hesitated to ease their passage when it's time for them to go.

Mousie and Scat are still spry and sassy. Mousie's ear is the only problem. I want to know what is going on so I can know what the best path for her is. The biopsy will be short-term discomfort. I am not going to go for chemotherapy or any other course that will make her miserable.

They are 16 years old and I am lucky to have had them this long. I know the time ahead is much shorter than that which is gone by. That's true for a lot of us. They are my furbabies. As wrenching as it will be to see them over the Rainbow Bridge, they deserve nothing less from me than the easiest journey possible when the time comes.

I've had tests or CT scans done before making a decision. Yes it's expensive but worth it to me.

I have a few old cats and I understand how hard this period of life is all too well.

I wish for peace and comfort for both you and your furbabies.

... we accept when our furbabies choose us, is knowing that we will likely outlive them.

That it doesn't stop us from rescuing them, is at the real heart of our personal humanity.

Bless you, Grits.

I am happy with my new new (year and a half) cat and grateful that she is friendly and interactive and affectionate, and now and then I shed a tear form one gone five years ago. They are in our hearts. Hard decisions, and you are doing the best!

of yours, I have no question about any of the decisions you've made, they were all made based on love and will continue so.

Having gone through this myself, my heart goes out to you. Warmest vibes being sent your way.

It is a sad event to lose a pet that you love so much, even though you know that day will come. Just keep the happy memories of the time you spent with your pet.

I still grieve for my little Yorkie Edith, who lived almost 20 years. In December we had to have our old Britiany spaniel put down. He was 18 years old which is remarkable age for a large dog. He'd been my husband's loyal hunting companion and our chief squirrel chaser for many years.

We still have two pets, Winnie, a female pit bull mix that we found wrapped in barbed wire and Callie, a calico cat that showed up on our porch one day. We had both fixed, I don't want to bring any unwanted animals into the world.

I have heard stories about pit bull dogs, and when Winnie was a puppy she was a biting, chewing machine. She is about 4 years old now and is the most loving dog I have ever owned. She also has the biggest bark, I like that.
