(36,281 posts)...but your post about what police have "become" inspired me to search for old photos from the 1960s and 70s. Civil rights marchers being beaten and attacked by police dogs and water cannon. Police oppression at the 1968 Democratic Convention. "The whole world is watching!" It goes on and on. The police have ALWAYS been the tools of oppression.

(36,281 posts)Just the opposite-- I meant that I had to edit repeatedly to take the really offensive responses out of my reply. I wanted to say what I really think about "law enforcement."

(34,582 posts)For unions and pensions have been brutalized by cops. Now, in Texas, they are starting to come after law enforcement pensions. Now the pigs are starting to worry. Well, guess what piggies- there is no one left to stand with you.

but nobody can legitimately argue that we are not headed in that direction.
As far as the burgeoning Militarized Police/Surveillance State,
Nader was right. Democrat?...Republican?
Hasn't made any difference.

(4,542 posts)I was just quietly thinking about this kind of thing this morning. I was feeling a little helpless and ashamed. Everyone should have been on the streets when we saw what was happening to occupy. I'm not particularly liking the idea of looking into a mirror today.
