(3,284 posts)For realism,you need to add a remora.
http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-plFpeDH2-tk/TdtehmZMokI/AAAAAAAAABY/7tlqbRJxNqc/s1600/Remoras++Sharksucker.jpg
Then, it'll be perfect.

(11,843 posts)Everyone in Minnesota know that it's Yeti that clean the bits of snow pants and jackets left over from a snow shark's feeding. Snow Remora.

(26,241 posts)Of course, Snow Sharks would have had a more difficult time hiding in the lava rocks.
Cha
(296,775 posts)like Iceland, Siwsan?
Siwsan
(26,241 posts)Amazing scenery, wonderful people, very old culture. Their language has never changed. And, almost everyone speaks English.
We could drive right up to geysers and waterfalls that rival Old Faithful and Niagra Falls, because they are located right off the side of one of the main roads. No tourist traps, no admission cost. Just breathtaking scenery. And some of the freshest air you will ever breathe, if you stay away from the fish processing plant. They run the country on geothermic energy. Absolutely fascinating.
Keflavic had a wonderful natural hot springs that ran down the side of a hill, into successive pools. At the top the water was very hot, but the further down the hill you went, the more temperate the water in the pool.
Reykjavik is a beautiful, very colorful, very cosmopolitan city. The whole country is amazingly safe.
The Snow Snakes, just like the Rock Chickens, were what we blamed when we tripped over the numerous rocks that were scattered across the base.
Sorry - when I talk about Iceland, I tend to gush

Siwsan
(26,241 posts)and knowing the people, I'm not surprised. They have a strong sense of right and wrong, which might be why they also have a very low crime rate. As I recall, most of the crime took place on the base, which was actually an 'agreed area' between the UN and Iceland. Their police were the authority and the military police backed them up. Trust me, you did NOT want to test the Icelandic security people.
Cha
(296,775 posts)your visit to Iceland! I opened the NYT travel section one Sunday while I still lived in New York and it was all about Iceland and their awesome Hot Springs of which I am a bona fide aficionado!
I'm in Hawai'i now and I'll never get to Iceland but I can dream.. mahalo so much for telling me about your time there, Siwsan~
ICELAND!
Siwsan
(26,241 posts)I was befriended by an Icelandic family and they included me in their holiday celebrations, and took me on tours around the country. My father come over and spent a week with me. It was one of the best weeks of my life.

(6,444 posts)THE VISTAS, WOW! But i hate seafood. And i can't afford it. Otherwise though... i'm THERE!
Siwsan
(26,241 posts)There are more sheep than people in Iceland. They make lamb 'hot dogs' called pilsers. Served with grilled onions, they were heaven in a bun.
As for the seafood - that was the best Cod I've ever eaten. Absolutely blissful.
And, I can't say enough about the dairy products. VERY high butter fat content and very full of flavor.
NBachers
(17,080 posts)I'm sure you sampled some of the local beer cuisine?
Siwsan
(26,241 posts)Lamb dogs and beer.
However, alcohol is VERY expensive in Iceland. One of the worst offenses you could be charged with was smuggling alcoholic beverages out of the base. So, we enjoyed the beer and lamb dogs on the base.

(15,235 posts)Sharks evolved an odd type of magnetic type detection system around their snouts, which can be manipulated because sharks at rest cannot distribute oxygen into their systems, unless they lie in caves, where water circulates constantly. (7,720 posts)on the way to the grocery store. I'm going to drive by tomorrow and take some photos of my own.
In some years we not only would not have the snow for such an awesome sculpture, but we might not have cold enough temps for it to be around for a while. This shark is not going anywhere anytime soon.
Cha
(296,775 posts)That Great White from the Bartz boys is going to be around for awhile, huh?
Have fun taking pics of your own, Jenoch..
Jenoch
(7,720 posts)Yeah, that shark will be here for a while. It's -18° right now and we won't see temps above 0° until Wednesday afternoon. We might hit 30° on Saturday, it will take several sunny days in a row in the upper 30s to kill that shark.
Cha
