Astonishing satellite image shows China covered with pollution

The smog situation in China is getting even worse, with pollution levels as high as 30 times the limits set by the World Health Organization. Check out this image taken in late December, 2013 by NASA's Terra satellite. You can't barely see anything because of the crap floating in the air. It gets even worse at full size:

America having the EPA. If we didn't, we probably be experiencing the same thing, and republicons want to repeal the EPA.

but I'm too tired today.

I would say thanks to people who became tired of breathing in pollutants from factories, and people who got tired of drinking polluted water, darned "tree huggers"

and a special thanks to Senator Henry M. Jackson (D)
Senator Henry M. Jackson proposed and helped write S 1075, the bill that eventually became the National Environmental Policy Act. The law was signed by President Nixon on January 1, 1970.

darned democrats.

Factories closed in the US due to new regulations, and re-opened in China instead. Without an effective environmental regulation system, the new factories were MORE polluting than the old ones.

End result: massive quantities of pollution still being churned out, just not in our backyards.

It all seemed OK for a while, until we realized that even from halfway across the planet, that pollution could still hurt us through mercury pollution and global warming.
