to celebrate her survival when that gun nut opened fire and killed so many people including that beautiful child.

(68,644 posts)Good for her! I jumped over the north shore of Oahu in 2012, what a thrill.
I read that she is regaining some use of her right hand/arm, as well.
I hope so.

(30,947 posts)I made 6 jumps in Homestead, FL. Then I decided to stop before I had any broken bones. But it was a great experience.
I wish Gabby a safe journey to the ground.

(68,644 posts)We have cheaper skydiving here but I thought a view from 2 miles up over the islands would be cool.
I paid a little extra for them to use a GoPro camera and capture the journey down!
Not the best shot, just what I have handy this morning:
That's fabulous

(68,644 posts)Three years after being shot in the head at a campaign event in Arizona, in an attack which left six dead and wounded 12 others, Gabby Giffords is going skydiving. ABCs Today show, which revealed the news, will air the jump exclusively on Thursday.
Far from high-flying stunts, the former U.S. representative writes in a New York Times op-ed that she has spent much of the last three years, learning how to talk again, how to walk again. I had to learn to sign my name with my left hand.
But that gritty, painful, frustrating work in its endless repetition and slow progress, according to Giffords, has helped her understand another battle, the fight against gun violence. She writes how the shooting at Sandy Hook elementary renewed her will:

(37,573 posts)Obviously I don't have the guts to do it, but I still think it is kinda lame to do it with no free fall.
To me Gabrielle is such a lovely name I don't know why somebody would wanna go by "gabby" which means that they talk too much.
Also, FYI the internets tell me it is GiffordS.
Not meaning to be critical on any of that. Just FYI and some rambling.
And for Gabrielle, I wish her well.
Corrected

(68,644 posts)She still has a lot of physical impairments, I doubt she's planning to solo.
I went up to 10,000 feet which allowed for plenty of time for just acceleration.
I'm with you, got to free fall.
