NJ Atty General is appointed by Christie, and can't be trusted to carry out an investigation given the obvious conflict of interest.
Someone with indisputable integrity needs broad subpoena and prosecutorial authority.

(9,461 posts)until he issued a subpoena for Democratic Senate candidate Robert Menendez two months before the election. The "investigation? found nothing wrong and went no where. The charges were never even identified. Luckily Menendez won anyway, but Christie used his federal prosecutor's office for political purpose so I imagine he'll expect the same thing in return.
What's so bad is this prosecution isn't politically motivated. This isn't someone digging something up from his past and blowing it out of proportion. He did this knowing he was a candidate in 2016. The friggin' hubris.

I was told that only extreme right wingers and extreme liberals were unhappy with Christie' win, and the fact is a third of NJ Democrats, such as they are, voted for this corrupt, bigoted, anti choice Republican.
The wagons around Christie are bipartisan and tightly circled.

(2,419 posts)was more related to a lower turnout in democratic strongholds than overwhelming support. I had posted a map of the electoral results a couple of months ago. The voter numbers in Hudson, Bergen, Union, Mercer and Camden counties were way down. There were many reasons that elected democrats endorsed him... some are just as much in the pockets of the business and development interests as Christie, some were intimidated or "bribed" into submission based upon Christie's control over Sandy aid.
