the 60's had civil rights, women's movement and vietnam war where middleclass families were watching their kids being killed

don't have any of that now.

The pinnacle of human existence happened on July 20th, 1969. Yes on that specific day.
A few weeks later, there was a big party in upstate New York, and everybody got stoned and was happy.
It's all been downhill since then.

Where do go from here? Good question! And the only place we CAN go is into outer space. Bases on the moon, mining the asteroids, colonies on Mars and beyond. Otherwise, human civilization as we know it will only last another generation or two. And then it's back the caves for those few who will remain.

Unfortunately, it's a combination of greed and religious insanity that is keeping us mired in the muck. There are amazing advancing happening, daily it seems, in science. Things that really can alter our species and get us out there. But again, greed and religious insanity are keeping us constantly at each others' throats. Start with those two things, and maybe there's hope for us.
