Came out apologizing. He was embarrassed by the conduct. He keeps on apologizing.

3. He's giving his other employees one hour to come to him with information.

Though he says that his staff has already been interviewed.

4. Saw the emails for the first time when they were reported by the media.

he will have one and one personal discussions with the remaining members of his staff to determine if there is other information he does not know that he needs to know to take appropriate action.

6. Now he's putting a plug for his staff.

He's heartbroken because someone in his inside circle betrayed his trust. He said he would never have made a joke about the lane closures if he knew that anyone in his staff were involved.

8. Admits that his staff fell short of the expectations they put on themselves.

But as chief executive he must act and has done so by firing Kelley.

Now he's says he's disturbed by the tone in the emails and he does not have confidence in Bill. And he's asking him not to put his name as party chair, and to withdraw his involvement with Christie's political operation.

9. Ultimately, he says, he is responsible for the mistakes and he will take responsibility

for remedying them.

He claims he was blindsided. He was done with his workout when he received a call that told him that the story had broke on the media.

10. He will continue the process of investigation the situation and will

take further action if necessary.

Later today he will go to Ft. Lee to apologize to the mayor and to the people in that town.

11. Now he's talking about bipartisan campaign cooperation.

He says that this situation is an exception. He doesn't approve of the political overtones in the emails.

He is stunned by the abject stupidity of the callous and indifferent way that the event took place.

First question: How do you change the perception of what happened? He said that he was led to believe by the people around him that there was no basis to the allegations.

13. He says he is a loyal guy, and expects loyalty in return and he doesn't

feel that lying to him his loyalty.

15. He sayd he has had heated discussion with people in his own party and across the aisle,

and that makes people uneasy. But he is not a bully and he will not change his style. He says he will be tough, but will also compromise.

This is in regard to a question asked by a reporter.

16. In answer to another question, he says that the two people involved

were not involved with the day to day involvement of his campaign.

He says that he can't confirm that things didn't go beyond the emails. But now he's digging in and trying to get more answers. He insists that he thought it involved a traffic study. But he says it's clear now there were political overtones in the emails, that were never, ever brought to his attention.

17. He insists that he is not a micro-manager. He says he delegates enormous

authority on his staff. He say that no one can expect him to know everything that is going on, but he had no previous knowledge.

18. Yet, he takes responsibility as governor.

19. He claims that they pursued hundred of recommendations and only received a few.

He claimed that the mayor was not someone that he felt they needed an endorsement from.

20. He said he never knew they were even trying to pursue the endorsement.

21. He says that he's not at the angry stage, but not yet there.

He is stunned and doesn't know why these people thought it was okay to lie to him.

He says he has built a reputation of honesty and toughness. And he wants the people of N.J. to know that this is the exception and not the rule.

It may not have been his idea, it may have been some staffer(s) going rogue, but it's unlikely he didn't know about it.
