How long before Christie does a 180?

As in...

"Look, I apologized until I was blue in the face, I gave you a damn day-long press conference, I answered every one of your stupid damn questions, I said what I had to say, you've had your fun crucifying me for being the only politician who tells it like it is, and now I'm done, I'm not saying another word about this so-called scandal, I don't give a damn about the bridge, I don't give a damn what anybody says, and anybody doesn't like it can go screw themselves, so get out of my face or I'll give you something to really cry about."

Then the passive aggressive sociopath comes out... I like it. Sounds like his personality. A casino bouncer in politics.

Governor Soprano is all set to nominate his chief of staff (his direct subordinate and Bridget's boss) as New Jersey attorney general, and Assemblyman John Wisniewski's committee subpoena authority runs out on Jan 14. In the meantime, all Christie needed to do is keep deflecting the media with his trademark stonewalling, aggression, and defensiveness, as you say:

"...I'm not saying another word about this so-called scandal, I don't give a damn about the bridge, I don't give a damn what anybody says, and anybody doesn't like it can go screw themselves..."

And it could have worked. But as Rachel Maddow herself would say, Christie made one teensy weensy itsy bitsy teeny tiny mistake.

Since Bridge(t)-Gate affected New York as well as New Jersey, it qualifies to be classified as a federal matter -- but even then, Christie could have covered his ass by calling in the feds himself. That would have made his contention that he knew nothing sound SOMEWHAT credible, and it would have ensured that the investigation would be non-partisan because it wouldn't have been conducted by his political appointees!

At his press conference today Gov. Christie stated that before he went public with his initial denials around 4 weeks ago that his staff had nothing to do with creating a massive 4 day traffic jam in Ft. Lee, he asked two people to "interview each member of his senior staff" about any involvement in creating the traffic jam. Those two people were his Chief of Staff Kevin O'Dowd and his Chief Legal Counsel Charlie McKenna. They reported back to him that nobody on his senior staff had any information about the traffic jam.

But it turns out there's a document already released that shows that Charlie McKenna was almost certainly directly involved the in the scandal from the beginning...(link)

So is O'Dowd so incompetent that he didn't realize he'd been lied to, or so corrupt that he participated in a coverup? Neither are qualifications for the state's top attorney. And we're supposed to believe that Christie didn't mastermind ANY of this...
