It always struck me when those were used to poke fun of those people.

Maybe it's an instinctive effort to ridicule and dehumanize the enemy, as to allow easier categorization. (That's why nature invented prejudices: faster reaction times.)

He's not really evil, just an asshole, and we have to take that into account when judging his actions? Na, let's go with "OMG U R SO FAT!!1!"
