The Reason for Bridgegate: Not what we thought.

http://bluntandcranky.wordpress.com/2014/01/10/the-reason-for-bridgegate-not-what-we-thought/

[block-quote]" The “what” is pretty well known by now: members of the Christie administration endangered lives and property by shutting down most of a major bridge, thus crippling the town of Fort Lee, NJ.

The “Who” is becoming clearer: four heads are rolling down the boardwalk thus far, and the Guv is trying to keep his noggin from joining theirs.

The question has been “Why”: on the face of it, the assumption that it was done to f*** over the Mayor of Fort Lee makes no sense. Indeed, that insensibility is a large part of Guv Christie’s defense.

So it took Rachel Maddow to make sense of this nonsense. Short version: it was Christie taking revenge on Fort Lee; but it wasn’t about the Mayor and any sort of endorsement. No, it was about Christie trying to stack the State Supreme Court, and a state Senator from that town who stood in the Governor’s way.

You really need to click the link and read the whole article, but here is a pertinent bit that connects most of the dots:

No governor had ever failed to reappoint a sitting state Supreme Court justice, but Christie had suddenly done it twice – once for the court’s only African-American jurist, infuriating Democrats, and then again for a justice he actually liked. The governor, enraged, held a press conference to tell reporters, “I was not going to let her loose to the animals.”

The “animals,” in this case, were the Democrats in the state Senate.

Christie said that on the afternoon of Aug. 12, 2013.

On the morning of Aug. 13, 2013, Christie’s deputy chief of staff told the governor’s guy at the Port Authority, “Time for some traffic problems in Fort Lee.”

The leader of the Senate Democrats at the time was a senator from … Fort Lee.

Timing? Check. Motivation? Check. Proof? Check.

Governor Christie DID have a reason (in his mind, anyway) to exact vengeance on Fort Lee. And he did it.

Gentlemen and ladies in law enforcement, keep those handcuffs oiled. Hopefully, you’ll be arresting that murderous motherf***er soon.

1. It's not what we thought. It's what people in general were lead to believe.

The first question to address for people outside New Jersey is what is going on in Jersey politics .If you were to venture into it through a little research you would than find yer way into another question.
So, yer next question would be ,what took the media so long to tie it all in ?
That's the question. So the media takes us back to the Nixon administration -bypassing GWB.
That window the Bush administration ripped open and left wide open.

So now maybe you recall the US attorney general under G.W.B. testifying and lying before congress.Shortly after resigning. Christie believes those appointees serve at the governors pleasure and if the governor isn't pleased than those that do not please him are simply removed and replaced.

So what you got here is a very long story that criss cross's the country.

So what that means as far as the media goes is that those dots have not yet begun to connect up.
Because the media isn't going to go there.
So,does the public really have a short memory ?
Nixon said so !

So lets say Christie becomes burnt toast ,does that mean the issues at hand will fall back out of sight and out of mind or way out there in left field out of public viewing ?

The original question to the over all issues is where does it end ? The Jersey Democrats are holding down the front line at current.
And that no doubt is just what pushed Christie over the edge. But he still no doubt thinks that he's the big guy who does the pushing and shoving like an all star pro who is unstoppable.

Power is an intoxicant. And Christie and his crew are polluted. Christie and his buddy Robbie Ford over there in Toronto Ontario.

2. Sorry, but how's this different than 'it was done to get back at the mayor'?

Aren't they both based on assumption and speculation?

Or, is there actually any proof for either of these theories?

5. Timing.

Christie's friend withdrew the day before the bridge was shut down.

The non-endorsement was not so closely tied to the shutdown.

7. Agree, but timing is still not proof.

Not saying that it couldn't be true, but it could just be coincidence.

While still mostly speculation, the confirmation hearing could have dragged in the judge's husband and through him, CC himself.

4. Why does the Why matter?

Does it matter why a thug robs a bank? No. Christie's minions did it, most likely on his orders. Why doesn't matter...all that matters is that it was done deliberately, and by Christie's staff. If he is directly tied in, all the better.
