Should people like Bridget Anne Kelly be charged with negligent homicide?

Just wondering since her actions and the actions of others just might fit the legal definition.

Criminal homicide constitutes negligent homicide when an actor negligently causes the death of another.

This bill is intended to address a gap in the law where seriously negligent conduct results in the death of an individual but may not involve sufficient culpability to constitute manslaughter or death by auto or vessel.

I don't think there's any way that charge would stick. LeftyMom Jan 2014 #1

The woman who died was 91 and had a heart attack. I'm not an actuary but I suspect it's safe to assume that the chances of a 91 year old surviving a heart attack would be approximately zero even if she were standing in the middle of a cardiac care ward.

What happened was outrageous and it doesn't need the facts stretched to make it so.

Actually, without even considering the charge off negligent homicide, I think there's a laundry list of potential charges for this case.

that the 91 year old woman probably didn't stand a chance, bridge closure or not, I do think that some sort of criminal sanction should be sought against those who executed this so-called 'prank'.

You don't screw with ordinary peoples' lives just to play political one-upmanship. There's 'leaking' to the tabloid media for that, which has no effect on the everyday lives of regular people.

but piling on charges that won't stick (and there's no way on god's green earth that one would) as an intimidation tactic isn't a good idea when half the potential defendants are lawyers.

Politicians should have to answer to the same laws we do. Too often, they don't.
