According to a press conference this week, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has absolutely no idea that members of his staff purposefully jammed the traffic on a local bridge in order to evoke payback on a New Jersey mayor that wouldnt endorse him for his reelection.
Sure he didnt.
If the Republican Governor did know what was going on and authorized it, hes once more reinforced his image as a major bully. Even as he declares he was misled and lied to, many are finding it hard to believe. Im actually rooting that the highest elected official in the state of New Jersey isnt involved in this, but I will tell you Im beginning to question my judgment, said Fort Lee Mayor Mark Sokolich, whose city was targeted by the stunt.
Why is it so difficult for people to take Governor Christie at his word? Probably because this wouldnt have been the first time hes bullied adversaries. Here are the top five instances of him strong arming the opponent.
1. Christie bullies a reporter.

Because of this, the state has to repay $95 million of the $271 million originally required as a give-back to the federal government.
I have gone over the GW bridge and through the Lincoln Tunnel many times and they really really REALLY need something to mitigate the traffic. If anything, the tunnel was to allow for more trains (rather than for cars).
Some critics said they suspected that the governor had decided to divert the money in highway tolls that the state would have spent on the tunnel to road and bridge repairs. The states fund for such transportation improvements is nearly empty and the governor has ruled out raising the states gasoline tax to replenish it.
Two decades or more in the planning and then 30 days or less to kill it, said Kate Slevin, executive director of the Tri-State Transportation Campaign, a group that had advocated building the tunnel.
Ms. Slevin said Mr. Christies sudden turnabout was unprecedented. Weve seen delays on transit projects before, she said, but never when the financing was as solid as it was on this.
<snip>
The tunnel was a pet project of Mr. Christies predecessor, Jon S. Corzine, and the states two senators, Frank R. Lautenberg and Robert Menendez. Those three Democrats were joined by some Republican legislators at a ground-breaking ceremony in North Bergen last year that was intended to demonstrate bipartisan support.
