Documents show Christie's inner circle well informed about traffic jams
TRENTON, N.J. - Thousands of pages of documents released this week by a legislative panel investigating the lane closures at the George Washington Bridge show members of Gov. Chris Christie's inner circle were well-informed about the apparently politically motivated traffic jams the governor said took him by surprise.
When a reporter demanded answers about the huge traffic jams, a high-ranking port authority official appointed by Christie didn't refer it to his agency's media relations staff. He ordered it sent to the governor's press secretary.
And when the lanes were reopened at last, another authority staffer emailed the governor's now-fired deputy chief of staff to say Christie's hand-picked agency chairman was helping to "retaliate" against the official who stopped the closures.

(9,645 posts)NO DIRECT TIES TO CHRISTIE......I CALL BS
the idea that christie's inner most circle did this w/o his knowledge is really an "emperor has no clothes" moment...why has the justice department not arrested him for denial of honest services?
what is next, some pol cutting off water or heat to citizens that did not support him politically?
i guess we should not be surprised afterall repubs have been openly been trying to deny citizen their right to vote, their right to organize, their right to decide who their family consists of, so i am sure they feel justified in denying citizen's the right to use the bridges and roadways is no big deal

That pix is Ms. Kelly texting David Wildstein about a cover story of a traffic study as the
reason the GWB was closed down.
The Port Authority is reviewing traffic safety patterns at the George Washington Bridge to ensure proper placement of toll lanes, the message reads. The [Port Authority Police Department] has been in contact with Fort Lee police throughout this transition.

(70,449 posts)I don't know if this was Kelly or Wildstein's text about the cover story they
were working on .... BTW the Fort Lee Police were never contacted before the shut down.

From the CBS piece ..... this goes right to the person Christie picked to be his
chief of staff but Chris didn't know about it?
But the email and text-message traffic shows port authority officials were in communication with several of his close advisers in the immediate aftermath of the September closures.
The day Port Authority Executive Director Patrick Foye ordered the lanes reopened, he sent an email asserting the lane closings created a public safety hazard and may have violated federal and state laws. That email was forwarded to a senior Christie staffer, Regina Egea.
Egea is currently the head of Christie's authorities unit and one of his 10 senior staff members. Before the scandal broke, he had tapped her to be his next chief of staff.

(20,592 posts)You know she's all lawyered up, and it will take a judge to get them from the ISP's.
This story has a loooooooooooooooooooong way to go!
I would expect her to bargain for immunity and then she'll cough him up like the hairball that he is. That will take weeks-
In the meantime, it's probably making the GOP rethink their neanderthal tactics. One can only hope...

(809 posts)who would tolerate a staffer who would close the busiest bridge in the world, without his go-ahead?
And, another thing, the most obvious reason to not ask your staff a single question about why they did this, is because you already know the answers.

I can just see all his aids giggling among themselves at keeping the governor completely ignorant of all this activity that harmed so many people under his jurisdiction.
