Even Kay Hagan (Democratic US Senator from NC) is caving to the tea party. She's been bashing "obamacare" all over the place. The Koch heads are running seven and 8 teevee commercials against Kay Hagan every night, and she won't fight fire with fire. She's fighting fire with agreeing with them. AND she's signing on to push against Obama and Kerry in the Iran negotiations...she thinks we should reinstate the sanctions.

about how the trade agreement can be so bad when the whitehouse is so behind it. It's because Obama is a Neo-liberal...and so is Clinton.

I love Obama and think he's done great things for this country in his time in office, but I would like to see our next President be a bit more progressive/liberal. Not Corporation friendly like Obama seems to be. I will hold my nose to vote for Clinton if it comes to that, because a Republican would be worse, but I sure hope we can get someone better than her to run in 2016.

28. It can be stopped as long as Senate doesn't get enough votes to Fast Track It!
Mon Jan 13, 2014, 12:40 AM
Jan 2014

The Buzz is that the House is so divided on it that both Dems and Repugs will not vote for it. But, if the Senate can push through "Fast Track" then the House will have NO SAY SO...it will be Passed as "Fast Track" with no input from the US House.

So...It MUST be STOPPED in SENATE for the FAST TRACK! Because that means whatever the President chooses in language cannot be amended by House. The President and Senate will ram through the deal.

So...it's our Senators who are the ones who hold the future of the TPP (as it's been written in Secret) in their hands.

Still if the "Fast Track Vote in Senate" goes down...we aren't in the clear YET. It means the Full Bill (written in secret) IF it get through Senate in "normal vote" will go to House and can be Amended before full vote. We can bet that the Corporate Lobbyists will be keen to add their "written Amendments" in the bill and so even then it could STILL PASS the way the President originally planned...but, that it will be harder if the Senate doesn't get the "Fast Track Legislation" to ram it through without the US House Input.

So ....we need to contact our Senators (even the Dinos..and if the vote for Fast Track goes down in Senate...then we've got to do a mass action against it passing in the House which means we have to contact even our DINO or REPUG House Members and tell them..."NO WAY!" And make sure our DEM House Members get the Message TOO!

But...for NOW everything is on pushing the Senate to vote down the FAST TRACK which will be a DONE DEAL...and we will have no power as citizens to do anything more. It gives the ultimate power to the President for what he's negotiated in Secret. Bill Moyers did the best report on this.

we may be able to slow it down by shining a lot of light on it.

NAFTA has been disastrous for the working class of this country (used to have decent factory wages - now at your local Walmart getting $8/hr at best).

TPP is NAFTA on steroids.

It's like the Patriot Act. We'll know a little about it but no one will have actually read the thing when they vote on it, and in the end we'll get screwed again.

Thank You, Congresswoman Slaughter, for saying what every American Worker already KNOWS.

Every Trade Agreement they've had since I've been in Congress has hurt both the American manufacturers and American workers. Not one of them have benefited."---Congresswoman Louise Slaughter

Everybody KNOWS this.
Even President Obama and Hillary KNOW this about "Free Trade",
and have admitted that they KNOW that these agreements HURT American Workers during Campaign 2008 when they BOTH pledged to "immediately Re-Negotiate NAFTA".

So, if everybody already KNOWS,
how come so few in the Democratic Party have the courage to publicly admit it?

What has happened to what used to be the Party of the Working Man?

You will know them by their WORKS,
not their promises of excuses.

Mon Jan 13, 2014, 07:24 PM

They can import what they like but we arent obliged to buy it.

How about a scorecard that says
0-100 made in USA A- 90%+
0-100 local content A-90%
0-100 safe chemicals. A-90%

Us consumers agency takes on the job of grading each product sold. So we can go around and buy only grade triple AAA products.
This will help the local economy and provide safe products to those who care. Those who dont care can continue to buy china.

I have nothing against china but I think food should be local as much as possible.
