Colorado's citizens have spoken on legal weed, but Gov. Hickenlooper isn't happy

Somebody light him up a fat one.

Recreational marijuana is now legal for adults to purchase in Colorado. Those same adults have been able to possess and consume pot legally since 2012, when voters approved Amendment 64. But the state's Democratic governor said he "hates" his state's legal weed "experiment."

Gov. John Hickenlooper revealed his feelings about marijuana legalization to the Durango Herald's editorial board Friday.

“I hate Colorado having to be the experiment,” he told the newspaper.

The governor said he intends the regulation of legal weed to be even more strenuous than alcohol. “We are going to regulate the living daylights out of it,” he told the Herald. .....................(more)

rather than accepting the will of the people, is suing those communities and worked the state legislature to take away any ability to deny these damned fracking extortionist/parasites.

He hasn't been a bad governor overall, IMO, but I find this unconscionable.

... he and most politicians in this state are so afraid, so worried about our marijuana legalization that they are becoming positively prudish.

Of course, it is because of money.
Will big corporations not invest here because Colorado becomes known only as the 'mile high' state?

Skiing, Broncos, mountains, sunshine, Mesa Verde ... all that great stuff totally forgotten because of recreational pot.

It just goes to show that politicians are politicians. Not only do they want to see where the parade is going before they get out in front of it -- they are so cowardly that they want to know who is watching the parade, what the band is going to play, who is riding on the floats, etc.

Thank goodness we have the initiative process in Colorado; the people usually do have more courage than the always risk-averse politicians.

of getting it right. I don't blame him. With so few states doing it - it leaves a lot of room for something to go wrong and tarnish the program before we even get a chance at letting it proceed to other states. His state is the test case. All ready we have some assholes smoking out in public...can't they just do as the law allows? Assholes that try stunts like that ruin it for the rest of us that would like it to spread to other states. So please stay within the law to show it is a program that will go smooth and cause little trouble.
