I would like to see America eventually become a utopia where everyone is treated the same under the law, where race; gender, and sexual orientation have no bearing whatsoever on how much you are paid at a job; where all jobs provide a living wage and where nobody dies of starvation or exposure due to the lack of a job; where anyone can pursue their dreams regardless of where they grew up; where you can walk down the street without fear for your life, you can purchase anything at a store without being afraid that your food might have ingredients that five years down the line you find out they give you cancer, and where nobody lives in fear of health problems backrupting them; where you can practice any form of religion, or not practice at all, without being looked down upon; where you can marry whoever you want, live where you want, have mobility, both socially and literally.
What in the hell do they want? What is their America? Everyone armed and looking over their shoulder? Paranoia run rampant? Corporations dictating every aspect of our lives and acting with impunity and without conscience? Eternal war? Racism run rampant and only Xtian fundamentalists having the right to practice their faith? What type of country is that?! Who would WANT to live there?! What exactly is their end-game?!

(13,461 posts)is where their changing demographic fears never come true, and even reverses course.
Not going to happen, so some people think next best thing is seeing everyone else as the enemy and staying mad.

(50,550 posts)They want to be as free to carry guns as they would have been in old Tombstone, to have the same economic freedom as before the New Deal, and to not be pestered by all those government regulations like the ones on the environment, building codes and food regulations.
And exceptin' the strong gun control in old Tombstone, the twenty depressions before Glass-Steagall, burning rivers, people knowin' what color the dyeworks was making because the lake is that color today, 500 people dying in a nightclub fire because the exits are welded shut, and your breakfast sausage containing Franz Walesa, a worker who got killed at the packing plant who they processed because he couldn't afford a funeral, it was a grand era.

(35,015 posts)""Let them eat cake" is a good slogan for them, because that's the mentality in a nutshell. As long as you have enough money, you can get whatever you want and to hell with everyone else.
So very Christian of them.

(39,909 posts)Among these are:
*The right to a useful and remunerative job in the industries or shops or farms or mines of the nation;
*The right to earn enough to provide adequate food and clothing and recreation;
*The right of every farmer to raise and sell his products at a return which will give him and his family a decent living;
*The right of every businessman, large and small, to trade in an atmosphere of freedom from unfair competition and domination by monopolies at home or abroad;
*The right of every family to a decent home;
*The right to adequate medical care and the opportunity to achieve and enjoy good health;
*The right to adequate protection from the economic fears of old age, sickness, accident, and unemployment;
*The right to a good education.
All of these rights spell security. And after this war is won we must be prepared to move forward, in the implementation of these rights, to new goals of human happiness and well-being.
America's own rightful place in the world depends in large part upon how fully these and similar rights have been carried into practice for all our citizens.

Please note that FDR specified the above as Fundamental Human Rights
and NOT as Commodities to be SOLD to Americans by For Profit Corporations!
THAT was the Party I joined in 1967, because I BELIEVED in ALL those Fundamental Human Rights.
There was a time not so long ago when voting FOR The Democrat
was voting FOR those Fundamental Human Rights.
Sadly, this is no longer true.
I would love to see a return to those Traditional Democratic Values that I joined the Democratic Party to support.
