Has a TESOL certification helped anyone here get a job? Or is it another of those credentials (Original Post) raccoon Jan 2014 OP
A job? I thought it was mainly so foreign students could go to college in the US? FSogol Jan 2014 #1
You are thinking of TOEFL. TESOL is a teacher of English to people who speak other languages. nt stevenleser Jan 2014 #2
Well I've certainly never gotten a job because of it. CFLDem Jan 2014 #3
honestly, a certificate will probably get you an underpaid job in China, or Korea... JCMach1 Jan 2014 #4

If you want to pursue teaching English as a career overseas, you still need credentials... a minimum MA in TEFL, or even a Ph.D.

Even better would be a traditional English degree (MA, or Ph.D.) , some TEFL experience (and maybe certification), and teaching experience.
