(13,460 posts)What a total piece of SHIT he is. I hope that sweet-looking dog found a good home.
Anyone who could do something like that is missing a huge chunk of their soul.

Florida Gov. Rick Scott returned adopted dog named Reagan

rescue dog that was adopted by Flordia Gov. Rick Scott (R) as part of his campaign was later returned to its previous owners. The Tampa Bay Times reported that the Labrador retriever was quietly surrendered by Floridas first family when he proved to be unsuited to life in the governors mansion.
It was during the 2010 campaign that Scott announced that rather than adopt a purebred dog like the Obama familys Portuguese water dog, Bo, his family would adopt a rescue dog. The campaigns Facebook page held a contest to name the newly adopted retriever, choosing Reagan, and said at the time, The Scott family is proud to announce that the name (chosen by you) for their newly adopted pup is Reagan! Thanks to everyone who participated in the fun contest.
Then after one mention in the press in January 2011, shortly before Scott was sworn in, Reagan disappeared. There were no more photos, no mentions on Facebook.
When the Times contacted Scotts office last Tuesday, communications director Brian Burgess declined to say where the dog was, accusing the reporters of surfing some old Facebook or website pages. Surprised at Burgess increasingly agitated stonewalling, an exasperated reporter asked the communications director if hed killed the dog himself. Burgess replied that he hadnt killed Reagan or any other dog, but still refused to say exactly what became of him.

Damn. Dog is better off out of that home.

(19,558 posts)If the dog did have behavioral problems as he claimed, the shelter would have discovered them while they were evaluating the animal for adoption. It sounds to me like they used the dog for their political stunt and then just returned it when they were done like an ill fitting pair of shoes.

(15,953 posts)Very rarely do I ever read anything about this man that doesn't reinforce that image. It's as if the teabagger voters of Florida said "Lets make America's biggest prick our governor."

(2,061 posts)What a scumbag. You can tell a lot about someone by examining how they treat people that are less off than them or how they treat animals. So the dog was only a campaign prop? If he sent the dog back to a regular shelter, they don't live long there since they kill off the older animals there to make way for newer ones. I really hate people sometimes.

(16,165 posts)there are nut jobs in this state that will vote for him, that think he is doing the right thing when he wants to drug test food stamp recipients, the jobless, and wants to allow the poor to go without healthcare or insurance.
this is a jerk that will not answer questions from reporters.
this jerk was "elected" by people that didn't give a flying fuck that he was in charge of the largest medicare fraud to date.
as I said, there are nut jobs in this state that will vote for him.
