Blunder Road: Springsteen Runs Over Christie - a Fabulous Read

To say that the Springsteen-Fallon video has gone viral is an understatement.

To say that the Springsteen-Fallon video has gone viral is an understatement...

What, then, must Christie have thought when he saw the normally clean-cut Fallon step up to the microphone decked out in full Bruce garb: a sleeveless denim jacket, aviator sunglasses, a silver earring, a red bandana? That it wasn’t so bad, perhaps. For any politician with national aspirations, being made fun of on the late-night talk shows is a rite of passage. And, if Christie was honest with himself, he would have had to admire the comic genius of Fallon’s writers, who changed the opening lines of Springsteen’s ode to the Jersey working man so that they ran like this:

In the day, we sweated out on the streets, stuck in traffic on the G.W.B.
They shut down the toll booths of glory ’cause we didn’t endorse Christie

At this point, Fallon was alone. But then, from the shadows at the back of the stage, came the great man himself, dressed identically to Fallon, identifiable mainly by the ripple of his biceps and the deep lines on his face. After acknowledging his host with a nod of the head, he sang:
Governor, let me in, I want to be your friend. There’ll be no partisan division
Let me wrap your legs around your mighty rims, and relieve your stressful condition
You got Wall Street masters stuck cheek to cheek with blue-collar truckers
And, man, I really gotta take a leak; but I can’t,
I’m stuck in Governor Christie’s Fort Lee, New Jersey, traffic jam

From then on, it was clear that, whatever else Christie ever does, this duet will be replayed, and howled at, until the day they lay him in his grave. And it went on, this time with Fallon and Springsteen alternately belting out the lines:

Howling with laughter at the article

"It was longer than one of my own damn shows..."

Christie has probably fantasized himself giving Bruce the Presidential of Freedom and joining him onstage at the White House to sing "Glory Days."

Unfortunately for Christie, it's looking more like "Pennsylvania Avenue Freeze Out."

And now Christie, who has the most severe "man-crush" ever witnessed (to the point he cried when Bruce hugged him) must be on a freakin' suicide watch!
Oh man, this has gotta be beyond hurt for Crispie!

But it would have been hysterical to see him run against Christie instead of Buono (who is a VERY intelligent woman!) and get about 75-80% of the vote in New Jersey.
