How did Gov. Christie know cones were used for GWB lane closures?

http://www.trentonian.com/government-and-politics/20140115/how-did-gov-christie-know-cones-were-used-for-gwb-lane-closures

TRENTON — For someone playing dumb, Gov. Chris Christie nailed the device used to shut down lanes on the George Washington Bridge.

And he had options.

According a traffic design guidelines report from the Port Authority, the organization responsible for overseeing the world’s busiest bridge utilizes traffic cones, plastic drums and barricades as channelizing devices for lane closures.

In what know (sp) may be one of the worst jokes ever, the Republican governor noted in an early December press conference that cones were used to narrow the lanes from three to one.

(end snip)

An interesting question. Did someone tell him, and he lied? Did he know about it, and he lied? Not a huge line of questioning here, but an interesting question.

he saw them out the window of his helicopter as he and his gang flew to Manhattan for the 9/11 events shown in recently revealed photos...? Surely there was a fly over to and/or from NYC that day, and maybe that's why they were having such a good time in those pictures since traffic was so hampered they were able to get the prime spot they wanted... like picking good seats at a football game.

Traffic cones are used in some cases but there are several devices used and sometimes it is predicated upon what kind of "work" is being sectioned off or it may depend on what is available for those setting up the barrier, there are general guidelines for this. Sometimes it depends on the rate of speed at which the passing traffic will be traveling... or maybe that's all the perps had in the back of the pick up truck or could grab from the utility shed in haste.

I've lived in NJ for 30 years and have no recollection of ever seeing barrels used. Barricades (Jersey Barriers) are used for longer term needs.

It was some time ago, clearly. He gleefully goes through this whole scenario of not having to wait in traffic, for people having to pull over and wait...it was surreal.
