Former Nevada Senate candidate Sharron Angle (R) on Tuesday filed a petition to create a constitutional amendment that would keep the state from running its own health insurance exchange, according to the Associated Press.
The proposal, titled the Healthcare Freedom Protection Act, would need 101,000 signatures by June 17 in order to make it onto the ballot. It would then go to a vote in Nov. 2014 and again in 2016.
Although Gov. Brian Sandoval (R) opposed the health care law, he was one of 16 governors and one of the few Republicans who decided to set up Nevada's own health marketplace because he felt it was in the state's best interest.
If approved, Angle's constitutional amendment would put the federal government in charge of providing Nevada residents with an insurance exchange.
