Let's just get it out of the way three years before the election. I included Obama because apparently he's a candidate.

(40,416 posts)You can wish in one hand and shit in the other and see which hand fills up sooner.
For Christ sakes, half the DUers have Elizabeth Warren 2016 stickers in their posts and she's repeatedly said that she's not interested in national office.
What we have here is not politics, which often grinds away often frustratingly slowly, but a mass delusion that the United States should some how adopt a permanent presidential campaign mode. Therein lies madness, my friend.
Let it rest for another year or so. Meanwhile, there's a pretty damned important election coming up this year. And if there's one thing we should have all learned in 2010 is that midterm election outcomes can have a profound effect on the success of a presidency.
That's why some of us here see this 2016 stuff as misdirected energy and counter-productive.
We cheer on our next presidential candidate at the cost of congress at our collective peril.
Regards.

(43,049 posts)absolutely NO ONE is talking at all about 2016.
We're barely talking about this year, and we have one tough congressional re-election campaign and another congressional Dem retiring. And a few local offices are open. No time to worry about two years down the road.
We're not anonymous posters on a board yakking away wasting electrons. We're jen-yoo-wine card carrying, flag-waving, bumper-sticker-wearing Democrats. We even have a website-- http://southolddems.com/ And there's a county one, too--http://suffolkcountydems.com/
Being Democrats, we haven't updated the sites in a while, but we'll get to it.
And we'll get to the next presidential election, too. Sometime in 2016. When the primaries are lining up and we actually have some candidates.
(BTW, my picture is up there as one of the Southold candidates last year.)

(41,829 posts)Howard Dean will not be in the pack, that his days for running for President are over. I really like him a lot, but I don't think he will run for President again.

(9,796 posts)Not that I get any say in it, being a Brit. Oh, and Bernie can't be in the primary since he's not technically a Democrat.
