Just returned from the Asian market.

A little food mart in my neighborhood that carries Asian food and serves the Asian community.
I got some tofu and a bag of pot stickers.
The interesting thing is most of the packages strewn with Asian writing (Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese) clearly stated "Made in USA".
My thought was that immigrant clientele know enough not to buy food from China. There have been too many cases of dangerous food imported here and doing harm.
Why does our government allow unregulated food, with a history of bad episodes to be brought into our country?
And don't get me started on allowing food to be sent there and processed without that being stated on the packaging.

my local supermarket today. Everything I bought was made in the USA. Reading labels is good.

It's January here in Minnesota. I noticed country of origin things on the produce, but I already knew that the summer fruits being displayed weren't grown in the USA. I didn't buy any of those. I did, however, buy a bag of hothouse tomatoes grown just a few miles down the road from St. Paul, MN.

Look at what you buy and be informed.

BP is still working all over this country, as if nothing ever happened.

'Course that's not food but it's still all about money (and lax regulations) regardless of how many are hurt.

because she won't use the Chinese powdered food.

Food safety and pollution are two of the big issues facing the current Chinese government and how they solve them will say a lot about its future. When you hear the anti-regulators here in the states you wonder if they've ever been to places without them.

and can not be trusted. Good honest Americans would never poison their own citizens. Except their water, produce, air......

Christ it is so fucking funny.

import food without problems.
I would say the EU has food standards higher than ours. Same for Japan.
China has given us tainted food repeatedly.
Before you accuse some one of bigotry (and why would I shop in an Asian market if I felt that way) you should consider the actual facts.

But I guess you would rather prejudge, hmmm there's a word for that.

they are familiar with their culture and provide something to their communities that can't easily be bought elsewhere .

I was commenting about how all the food clearly states 'made in USA'.
I am assuming that their customers want that. It is mostly Asian food sold. It brought up my problem with food from China.

but why do yo suppose their weren't products from China. I have seen them in other Asian markets in the past.
I have seen them in American markets. But the Chinese products were made here.

When I go to the Italian market, they have tons of stuff from Italy.
Same with many ethnic markets.
