Evidence Reveals Legal Schnauzer's Roger Shuler Was Victim of Police Brutality

Source:

Thursday January 16, 2014

This is Carol, Roger's wife... An Alabama deputy shoved Legal Schnauzer publisher Roger Shuler to a concrete floor three times and maced him before ever stating that he was inside the Shuler's home to make an arrest.

That was one of several stunning revelations during Shuler's resisting arrest trial in Shelby County Tuesday.
Much of the evidence was produced by a stream from a video that was generated by a camera in the vehicle of Deputy Chris Blevins.

"In the audio, you can hear Deputy Blevins assaulting me three times and spraying me with mace before he ever said that he was on the premises to conduct an arrest," Shuler said.
"The evidence showed that I was defending myself, with the only physical act that I did, according to Blevins' own words, was raising my arms in a defensive posture, and I was defending myself against a grotesque example of police brutality and excessive force.
Evidence showed that Blevins likely had no warrant given that the prosecution could produce no warrant at the trial.
The notion that a journalist or any other citizen could be arrested and beaten up in their own home without a warrant should be a cause of great concern for all citizens."

Assistant District Attorney Tonya Willingham prosecuted the case and when forced to turn over copies of any warrants, she said she did not have one.
How can a resisting arrest case be prosecuted when there are no warrants in evidence?
That's one of many disturbing questions raised by Tuesday's trial.

1. I hope they have legal representation by now. If there were no warrants, wouldn't that be a huge

issue regarding keeping in jail? Any reporters in that part of the world who might be able to do some investigation, or are they all too afraid, can't say I blame them actuall, considering how they retaliate against those they view as political enemies.

The Legal Schnauzer blog doesn't mention it; but I'll bet they could use all the help they can get...financial help and legal help from attorneys.

Also, Don Siegelman definitely needs financial help.

6. IMO, the real disgrace is President Obama not pardoning Siegelman.

I did an OP back in October, 2013 about Gov. Siegelman, called:
WHY DID OBAMA ADMINISTRATION ASK JUDGE TO INCREASE GOV. SIEGELMAN'S PRISON SENTENCE?

I cited an excellent article for OpEdNews by Andrew Kreig, who is very knowledgeable on both the Roger Shuler case and the Don Siegelman case; and, lo and behold, Andrew Kreig himself made two very informative replies to my OP (Replies # 76 and 139)

One of the earlier posts said they were using a library computer because they couldn't afford to pay for internet service -- and that they were hoping a lawyer would take their case either pro bono or on a contingency basis.

Shelby County must have at least one lawyer who would work pro bono for a good cause such as this one, or perhaps a lawyer from another Alabama county?

(From Octafish's DU link cited in the OP)
"Shuler is the only person in the Western Hemisphere to join a list of imprisoned journalists,
according to the Committee to Protect Journalists,
The list includes reporters held around the world, in places like China, Egypt and Iran."

Shelby County has not changed a bit. Might still be 1965.

But it's not 1965...it's nearly fifty years later; and we have a black Democrat in the White House who doesn't seem to care what happens in Shelby County.

Below, is one of the stories that he published about Rob Riley, son of Bob Riley, former governor of Alabama.

Apparently, Rob Riley had an affair with a woman and then paid for an abortion. And this guy is supposed to be a Repub, who is against abortion.

http://legalschnauzer.blogspot.com/2013/07/rob-riley-had-affair-with-lobbyist.html

Rob Riley Had An Affair With Lobbyist Liberty Duke, Leading to Pregnancy And Payments For Abortion

Rob Riley

A prominent Alabama Republican had an extramarital affair with a lobbyist that led to a pregnancy and payments for the woman to have an abortion.

Homewood attorney Rob Riley, the son of former GOP governor Bob Riley (2002-2010) had an affair with Liberty Duke, a lobbyist based in Clanton, Alabama. When Ms. Duke became pregnant, Republican insiders paid her to have an abortion and stay quiet on the subject, multiple sources tell Legal Schnauzer. Total payments reportedly were in the $250,000 to $300,000 range.

Who was involved in the payment of hush money to cover up Rob Riley's transgressions? Our sources are not certain about the financial flow chart, but it appears the funds came from Alabama GOP sources rather than coming directly from Riley.

I know that Andrew Kreig has been following the Shuler case..
I wonder if Brad Freidman is as well?
MSM sure as hell isn't...except for the NY Times article.

I think I'll go to Jim Hightower's site later & leave him a message asking if he knows about the case.
