LINEVILLE, Iowa (AP) — The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is advising residents of the southern Iowa city of Lineville to boil their drinking water.

The DNR says a water main break Thursday could allow bacteria to enter the system as pressure is lost during repairs.

The boil advisory will remain until testing confirms the water is safe.

Until then, residents should boil water for one minute before drinking it or using the water for cooking. The water doesn’t need to be boiled for bathing.

Lineville, with a population of about 200, is 28 miles west of Centerville.
