I seem to recall that their actions resulted in...jail time..
something like 18 months for each of them. Obstruction of justice, etc.etc.
I recall clearly the arrogance of them. Total and complete
.. I recall the feeling that they acted so sure that they would get away with everything. They acted with the same arrogance that we see in Christie. I think the result will be the same.

(38,359 posts)As the world turns, there will be more on the next episode. Why?
When you bully so many, so often, people get pissed off.
There will be lots of requests for immunity. yes. I believe you are correct.

(6,719 posts)Only some of us left who remember all that, smile. And yes, what is the quote, those who do not read history are doomed to repeat it?? I hope they do jail time. Way too many people getting off in recent years.

(38,359 posts)Like Watergate, it is multi faceted. That is there is more than one part to the scandal. Breaking and entering in the Gate, then covering it up, then ordering restitution for the people who broke in, that was not just one thing, as is this. At first it was the bridge, now it is the bullying on supporting a project in turn for aid for a city after a flood, and who knows what else there is. Now, we got someone willing to testify against the crowd. Think about it. And the constant denial, name calling, the press is after us.. etc.

(38,359 posts)It fits in perfectly with Mr. Christie..this quote is from today's New York Times:
"Calling the latest allegations extremely disturbing and promising an investigation, Mr. Sweeney said that Ms. Zimmers experience, combined with the lane closings on the George Washington Bridge, suggest a pattern of behavior by the highest ranking members of this administration that is deeply offensive to the people of New Jersey.
sounds so familiar.
