Boy, 16, suffers ruptured testicle after rough 'pat down' by police woman and now faces infertility

Philadelphia police have launched an internal investigation after a teenager allegedly suffered a ruptured testicle during a pat-down.

Darrin Manning, 16, was with a group of teammates on their way to an after-school basketball game at 15th and Girard Streets when he was stopped by police officers.

Manning says he was handcuffed and patted down by a female police officer, who grabbed and pulled his genitals. He underwent emergency surgery the following day.

Manning, a straight-A student at Mathematics, Civics & Sciences Charter School, says that he was stopped for no reason.

particularly in the genital area? There would be outrage if a male officer patted a female in that area.

Benghazi!

Ok, now I got my outrage out.

Another question: why is any officer patting down anybody, with enough force to break body parts. That's not frisking, that's assault.

... Why is all this horrible news (there's been a lot in the last couple days?) coming from the Daily Mail? Has anyone seen these stories in American press? Just wondering. There's some mean MF police in Philadelphia. There will be a suit and should be.

.... I watch 'em all. But those 47% who voted for the Mittsger' only watch MSM and probably 99% of them watch Faux News only. No education, closed minds and Faux News equals the 46.5%. Just think what might happen if we had a fully educated electorate.

Police begin probe of teenager's arrest
Lawyer claims officer's pat-down led to ruptured testicle
By Aubrey Whelan, Inquirer Staff Writer
Posted: January 18, 2014

Philadelphia police have launched an internal investigation into a teenager's claim that he was unnecessarily stopped on the street, then searched so roughly that he required emergency surgery.

Police Commissioner Charles H. Ramsey on Friday played surveillance video of the Jan. 7 incident for reporters, but shied away from drawing conclusions on the arrest pending further investigation.

On Jan. 7, 16-year-old Darrin Manning, a student at Mathematics, Civics and Sciences Charter School, took the subway to Broad Street and Girard Avenue to play in a school basketball game, said Victoria Joyner, the school's chief executive.

... glad to see it made the news SOMEWHERE in the US. Amy Goodman will probably report on it this week. I think it should go national, though. If we didn't live in a police state, it probably would be on all the MSM. Another thing about the article... it names the kid but doesn't give the name of the woman officer that did it. Now, if that isn't bass-ackards, I don't know what is. Usually, the child's name (or adult name if they were sexually assaulted) is not published.

That wasn't a "pat down" that was an assault! Hope that city's ready for a lawsuit, 'cause its coming, or at least I hope it is...

I'm not for a minute saying that this *didn't* happen the way it's described.

But, speaking as someone British who read the Mail for a year because it was left lying around in the shared house I was living in, I would strongly advise waiting til you've seen the story in a more reliable source before crediting it.

It is virtually impossible to overstate how vile and unreliable the Mail is.

That said, if it *is* true, it's certainly a serious matter.

And even if it's hard to find an "acceptable" - i.e. reliable - messenger (which I doubt it is, in this case) that doesn't make the Mail worth paying heed to.

Look up the "Ontological Ontology project" next time you want a laugh, as a sample of its journalistic standards.

More generally, if you're quoting British sources, steer clear of any of the tabloids - Mail, Express and Sun especially, but also the Mirror. the NOTW is dead now, thank God, but it was one of the worst in its day. The broadsheets and the BBC are all pretty good , though - the Telegraph and the Times are right-wing, but they have reasonably high standards of accuracy.

But never, ever believe anything you read in on of the right-wing British red-tops (the tabloids all use glaring red for headlines, hence the name) unless you've got verification from somewhere else.
