although I'll say that I consider it a shame that NPR is resorting to cheap, sensationalistic tactics to garner viewers.

It was a much smaller "house" amidst a sprawl of cookie-cutter tract homes. It looked very much out-of-place.

(utility) residences hiding in plain site. In my town out in the hinterland years ago the electrical utility company built a 60's ranch style home as a substation. Wish they did it in other places.

it's got dual use: pump station for the neighborhood and some kind of police hang-out. Been there since the early 80's, is very obviously not a residence because it sits in an area where there are no other houses. Utility people go in and out, and cops go in and out.

The people who use the word "mystery" must not know what a mystery really is. I bet everyone in the neighborhood knows what this house is, just as everyone in my grandmother's neighborhood knows what the house is there, too.
