Long Branch, N.J. Mayor Adam Schneider (D) on Saturday said he got "enhanced" access to state officials after he endorsed Gov. Chris Christie (R) during his re-election campaign.
Schneider told the Washington Post that a few months after he endorsed the governor, he contacted his office about an issue he couldn't get resolved by the state utility board.
"I'm not talking to any more underlings, and I'm not being delegated to," Schneider told Christie's aides. "I got what I needed."
The Long Branch mayor believes his success with Christie's office can be attributed to the endorsement.
The Washington Post reported that Democratic mayors who supported Christie said that the benefits they reaped from doing so outweighed frustration from fellow liberals who did not endorse the governor.

(128,515 posts)I.e., bipartisan back-patting as part of the pay to play. Sadly, it's the Jersey way. I wouldn't be surprised if there aren't any on this side of the Delaware River involved too.... Everyone is looking at the PA of NY/NJ and but no one has checked the DRPA (Delaware River Port Authority, which handles similar but between PA & NJ). We share 100+ miles of riverfront.

(3,450 posts)Is this saying that the Dem mayors that endorsed Christie think that overall Christie's actions in denying access and government support to those other Dem mayors who did not endorse him was acceptable and good for the citizens of New Jersey?

(4,856 posts)I just served on the jury and personally I can't understand why your post was alerted on. I remember a time at DU when any matter could be discussed and there was not this much censorship from disgruntled members. It truly is sad when a simple statement like yours gets you accused of being a Rush Limbaugh follower (which is what the alerter wrote about you). I just wanted to let you know you were alerted upon as DU doesn't let people fully know someone else has opened a jury case against them.

(4,856 posts)At least there is hope for DU yet. Glad to see other DU'ers felt the same about this ridiculous alert and hope the alerter realizes they are part of the problem at DU.

(51,518 posts)Democrat is not an adjective. Fox/Boehner/Limbaugh use it as an adjective as a pejorative, with an emphasis on the "rat" syllable. It is a childish, obnoxious insult. Please stop it. It makes your posts read like the work of a right wing troll.
But if your point is the Bush administration dragged their feet to help areas headed by Democratic officials and Christie is just another GOP shakedown criminal, I agree with you. That was your point, right?
