US housing starts rebound to 2007 levelhttp://www3.nhk.or.jp/nhkworld/english/news/20140118_01.html
"SNIP...............................
US housing starts fell nearly 10 percent in December, but still finished strong enough to record the best year since 2007.
Economists suggest cold weather might have impacted home building last month.
The US Commerce Department said on Friday that housing starts in December dropped 9.8 percent to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 999,000. The figure was slightly better than expected.
Single-family homes fell 7 percent. Multi-housing units such as condominiums were down 17.9 percent.

We need to promote a healthy market for sure. Banking predators need more than to be fined.

(8,155 posts)1. Hooray for the bubble economy.
When it bursts next time we'll all stand around and ask ourselves how it happened again.

who lost so much with their mortgages. Now there is a chance that when their kids are grown and they move out, they will be above water.

We need to stop promoting homeownership as the "American Dream."
