Today she said:
I deny any suggestion made by Mayor Zimmer that there was ever any condition on the release of Sandy funds by me, Guadagno told reporters.
It was Chrisitie's 'condition on the release of Sandy funds' - not Guadagno's.
Guadagno was delivering Christie's message.
Looks like the lawyers wrote that statement!

(116,464 posts)engaging in obfuscation. For example, after spending the last day slamming Zimmer's claim about the amount she received, a Christie official basically confirmed the amount. They insisted the city got $70 million, funds that have nothing to do with what Zimmer requested, and now, they're changing the story to say it went to residents.
They're conflating funds to create confusion.

(36,974 posts)Christies storm czar Mark Ferzan, in a rare phone chat with reporters, said Monday that Zimmers claim that Hoboken got just $342,000 of the $127 million they requested was a mischaracterization.
I'm scratching my head a little bit about any community thats getting the short end of the stick, said Ferzan, who said Hoboken actually got $70 million in recovery aid.
But of that aid money, Christies storm czar confirmed what Zimmer said earlier that $43 million of the aid Hoboken got was from flood insurance money and some $15 million more came from the feds.

So, the 58+ million was NOT from the Sandy aid fund Christie has to hand out.

(2,419 posts)refugee from the Christie U.S. Attorney's office. He doesn't sneeze in public without it being cleared from the Governor's office. He "runs" the GORR- the Governor's Office of Recovery & Rebuilding. The money that Hoboken has received came from the Federal Government, not the State.

(26,619 posts)"In the article, published Monday, Christie likened his plight to that of Jamie Dimon, the JPMorgan honcho whose bank suffered a record $6.2 billion trading loss because of a risky rogue trader known as the London Whale.
How could Jamie Dimon not have known about a trade that was being put on by a trader in London? Christie mused. Well, you know, I think its fairly safe to say that Jamie Dimon didnt know that a trade was being put on and that when people lied about it, he didnt know they were lying.
All the rats stick together and can sink together.

(40,416 posts)I am going to watch my All the President's Men DVD tonight in honor of the Christie administration's responses.
In that flick, Jason Robards Jr. -- as WaPo's legendary Ben Bradley -- schools his people (and the audience) of what a non-denial denial is, and when to circle the wagons.
So far, from what I've read, it's all been non-denial denial.
I've looked for a video of the scene on UTube but no success. It's a good one. It's also very appropriate to this story.

(7,402 posts)Pointed to her statement being prepared by lawyers. And I picked up on the "by me" when she said it.

(145,130 posts)It was obvious to me that this statement was scripted. The Gibson Dunn lawyer hired by Christie for his office is a crisis management lawyer and this is the type of statement that I would expect from this firm
