(135,425 posts)He came off like a wheezy whiner who got the best of someone who had managed to get his goat, and wanted to (earnestly) make the point. I was wondering if he'd recently eaten a few of those steroidal testosterone gummie bears that are so popular amongst the athletes these days.
The reporter interviewing him, no stranger to the spotlight herself, immediately realized she was part of a viral moment! She kept her cool!
Now, Chris Christie....he's just a loser. As the days go by, he gets smaller and smaller. That's the brass ring of the Presidency passing him by, and he's receding in the rear view mirror.
I'm not sorry. He was probably the most formidable candidate on the GOP side, and the fact that he's been dealt this blow is good for us. He may still recover, but this is a massive thorn in his side. Anytime anyone wants to snark at him all they have to do is say
Yeah, and I have a bridge for sale....
or
He'll cross that bridge when he damn well feels like it...
or
He's mad as hell, and packing cones....
He's got troubled waters ahead, and he'd probably rather take the ferry than the bridge!!!!

(135,425 posts)I "got" the hashtags.
I just think it's funny that a guy who was about as "un-macho" as a victorious football player could get (despite trying like HELL to be a tough guy) could possibly be regarded as a "thug." All you gotta do is look at the guy and his insecurities shine through like a beacon. The woman interviewing him saw that straight off, despite the raised voice and the dramatic posturing.

(5,016 posts)How many other players could she have stuck that microphone into there face without all that noise ?????
Intent, intent, intent ... I say sensationalism ... lets pour it on hot and thick ... all gooey and gross ...

(135,425 posts)He thought he was coming across like Ali, or one of those WWF wrestlers, or something.
Instead, he was coming across like Wally Cox copping an attitude!
He was obviously mad at the guy he was railing about; he just couldn't switch gears to celebrate instead of focusing on the guy who had been teasing him.
That reporter is no stranger to this kind of stuff; I think she did fine--the whole interaction was mostly funny.

(5,016 posts)whether this was a setup by producers or she really was the deciding factor on who she interviewed ...
He was the wrong player to interview after a sporting event ... IMO

(41,915 posts)His attitude makes me laugh, but in his field, if you like the genre, he's done some of the best work out there. Sadly, he pushes things so far that it backs people way off of the music, and he might have lost his perspective. I like the guy, though. Go figure.
Oh, and I defined "best" by awards won, not my opinion.

(11,461 posts)he has said that he believes he is a genius or something to that effect, but me personally have no problem with people proclaiming to be the best, my attitude is if you're the best as you claim to be, then you'll have to prove it against me.
Nothing wrong with people having self confidence, it only becomes a problem when certain culture tries to set a standard for others.
joeglow3
(6,228 posts)The people I know with self-confidence are not out trying to justify/tell everyone how great they are. They carry themselves like Barry Sanders did.

event differently. Our characters are different, but I can't say because joeglow3 (for instance) was modest in his celebration then Hutzpa should be too, we are two different people with different background and cultures, I should be able to celebrate how I see fit, you on the other hand had a choice which is to either change the channel or hit your head against the wall or whatever is culpable for you to do, but don't deny me my exhultation at my finest hour just because you don't like how I speak or look.

(41,915 posts)HuffPo (I know) has an article about his outstanding life, about how he's never done any of the things that many players have done that are truly egregious. He's just in a trash talking battle.
Social media, which, yes, I spend time with, has the potential to do such harm to people. it creates hysteria out of everything. I hope he's strong and just knows who he is - apparently a kid who is exactly what he's been designed to be.

(11,075 posts)I have been wondering if Richard Sherman was white and acted in the exact same way, then would he called a thug?
Also noting the way that Gov. Christie sometimes talks to people, the media never portrays him as the "angry white man" while many in media attempt to cast the Obamas as the "angry black man" and the "angry black woman".

(10,362 posts)The whole Sherman saga misses one crucial point- it's an act. I'm a Seahawks fan. Sherman loves winding people up, getting in his opponent's heads, etc. That's why he's the best CB in football.
All the anger is sweet nectar to him.

(4,238 posts)I don't care where he came from, I don't care where he went to school, I don't care if he's a fucking gentleman scholar who is just "misunderstood," and I don't care about his fucking "strategy" of getting in people's heads on the field. There's this thing called "sportsmanship" that most players -- even the most bombastic, trash-talkers -- adhere to, and Sherman lacks that completely. Every other player gets a mic shoved in their face after the game, and they manage to be all sorts of things: funny, obnoxious, calm, loud, articulate, crazy. Pretty much everything but a poor sport, which is what Sherman is. Oh, and an asshole, too. Can't forget that.
