- I'm sure the residuals were pretty thin there, toward the end......

''It is not inertia alone that is responsible for human relationships repeating themselves from case to case, indescribably monotonous and unrenewed: it is shyness before any sort of new, unforeseeable experience with which one does not think oneself able to cope. But only someone who is ready for everything, who excludes nothing, not even the most enigmatical will live the relation to another as something alive.'' ~Rainer Maria Rilke

I have heard people doing this but it seems kind of weird. I know that elderly sometimes change and become mean especially if they have some kind of disorder. Perhaps that may be the case. However for better or worse????? I hope it is just that they fell out of love and not something like medical caring for one of them.

Daryl tells TMZ ... "I don't know why she filed. I gotta figure it out for myself first." He also said they're still living together in the same house.

And there's some discussion about better coverage for him as a single to cover his Parkinsons.

Love might keep us together, but health insurance rips us apart.

Jan 2014

Passing through the Starving Musician, or whatever it was called in Santa Clara, a piece of gear caught my eye, but
somehow I couldnt justify the $85.00 for a bit of genuine music history. I kick myself regularly for that mistake.
An Emulator sat there for sale. Their first model, a very simple device without the necessary boot disc, so essentially a doorstop,
although I probably had direct access to one of the company honchos.
Serial number "0001" give or take a few zeros.
The extra cool thing about that "first" production unit is that there were two of them made.
Both Stevie Wonder and Daryl Dragon insisted on buying the first unit.
So they both got "0001" stamped Emulators.
I had to assume that wasnt Stevie Wonder's Emulator.
No idea how the Captain used it, cant say I had any records other than maybe that HUGE single.
Amazing how far success will take you before leaving you in need of affordable health care.
Best of luck to both of them.

'Actually,' Wedge confesses, 'we had promised number 001 to Daryl Dragon of the Captain & Tenille. I'm not sure if Daryl ever really understood why he didn't get number 001. We were tempted to make two -- one for Stevie Wonder and one for Daryl Dragon -- because Daryl had been a loyal E-mu modular system owner for a long time before that. On the other hand, Stevie at the time had a slightly larger name-recognition value, so I guess it got a little political. Apologies to Daryl on that one.'"

And just fyi, Daryl has a neurological disorder and is 71 so he both needs and has healthcare. My guess is that the divorce will be splitting up a few million bucks between them.

There was zero chance that I could ever afford to buy it. So, thank you music store employees for letting me play.

Of course I never looked back when computers eventually replaced dedicated samplers.

I also wanted a Jupiter 8, which IMO is the most fun and coolest looking analog synth ever.

Pretty sure they were influenced by the ARP Quadra there.
I almost grabbed a broken Quadra 20 years ago. Missed it by that much.
Never got too close to any Jupiter 8's.
Leaned heavily towards American synths back when, give or take a CS-80
and some Roland GR goods.
Thanks for the quality porn!

Because honestly I still want one.

Apparently Roland only made 2000 and the surviving synths are currently selling for around $10,000. Ugh. I still can't buy one!

2000 really isnt so scarce, depending on attrition, its that demand issue.
Isnt there a rack mount version?
I have only seen J8's for sale a few times really, but seems like the rack mount versions (if there was one)
were put up for sale more often.
I would lean towards a 4 myself.
But only if it were good and cheap in comparison to any older Obie.
The new Two Voice will be the neatest thing on the planet.
I hope I dont miss the boat on that future classic.
