<...>
Findings released Thursday by Pew showed that...Fifty-seven percent of GOP voters said that a person is rich because "he or she worked harder than others," while just 32 percent attribute it to advantages they enjoyed. The results are almost completely flipped among Democrats.
Overall, 51 percent of Americans said that people are wealthy due to advantages in life, while 38 percent said it had more to do with hard work.
Pew also found that 51 percent of Republicans believe that people are poor due to a lack of hard work, compared with just 32 percent who attribute it to circumstances beyond their control.

(1,241 posts)5 years ago, well before my prime. But the kiss ass supervisor who doles out the hard work from the seat of his air conditioned office is still going strong. Making more money now and putting more in his pension and SS. . My mother worked 18 ours a day for 50 fucking years and is far from rich. In fact SS only. Every HONEST hard working person I know who has worked 30 or 40 years is worn out and NOT rich.

(24,461 posts)Whenever I think about getting in the mud with these people, here are my thoughts:
"These people believe in a 40 year failure known as Trickle-Down economics. These people live to suppress women and poor persons. Swaths of these people are likely creationists. This table is likely more reachable than they are."

...if it ended there, but as the graphic in the OP shows, it doesn't. The people they vote into office control half the legislative branch.
