Attn: All DUers Read This: I Need Your Help!

My name is Steve Senti, I am 54 years old and disabled. I own and run oreilly-sucks.com and have been a member here since 2001.

I posted here a few months ago after my Father passed away in May of 2013. I was living with my 89 year old Father who had alzheimers and Dementia, I took care of him and paid the bills with his social security and pension money. Now he is gone and I am all alone in his house with $800.00 a month in bills.

I am still trying to get over his death and a day rarely goes by that I do not cry thinking about him because I miss him so much. I was in control of his entire life for the last 2 years, and he was not just my Father he was my best friend too. We got about as close as a Father and son could get and I am still depressed from him being gone.

I am on food stamps and I get my medical care from the OSF community clinic, the state pays for it with a medical card that went into effect on 1-1-14, and they pay for my 5 prescriptions with a $2.00 co-pay for each one. I am disabled with a bad back and other medical problems, so it limits what I can do.

I got a law firm called myler disability to file my SSI claim, it was denied and we filed an appeal, the appeal was denied in December and we filed the next appeal for the ALJ hearing with a judge, where most appeals are won. But they tell me it will take 11 to 13 months to get the appeal hearing with the judge, here is a copy of the most recent letter they sent me.

I do not have much of an income, I make $100 to $200 a month selling ad space on my website, but some months I do not make anything. So I need to raise some money to help me pay my bills until I get my SSI ALJ appeal hearing in December.

So if anyone can help me and make a donation I would appreciate it very much, I need to raise about $7.000 dollars to get me to December. Now I understand that is a lot of money, and I do not expect you guys to donate that much to me.

But if you can donate anything it will help. I have even tried to find work I can do and had no luck. I even tried to get the state vocational rehabilitation office to find a job I can do and so far they have not found anything for me either. So it looks like I am on my own until December, that means I need to raise $7.000 to pay my bills for the next 11 months.

I was lucky to sell an ad spot on the website recently, which will give me enough money to pay the bills for February. But if I do not raise some money from donations by the end of february, I will run out of money by March.

So please donate if you can, I have a paypal donation page on the website:

http://www.oreilly-sucks.com/donate.htm

And my paypal e-mail is: oreillyspins@yahoo.com

Steve

P.S. Even if you can not donate, if you could keep this thread kicked up so everyone can see it for a couple day I would appreciate it.

Thank you.

Good luck to you! Wish I could donate, but I've run that gamut myself. My SS finally came through, but like you've experienced, it took a viciously cruel long time.

Hang in there!

Steve: You need to find an attorney that will appeal the denial. There are attorneys who will take the case on contingency. If you win SS has to pay you from the date your filed for disability and the attorney will take her/his fees from the payout upon approval. Or go to Legal Aid. They will also help. Good Luck.

You need to find an attorney who specializes in SSDI appeals. They should not require any money from you. They are paid by he government when you win the appeal. Please do this.

I have an attorney, they are called Myler Disability, and all they do is SSI claims. They have been working my claim since December of 2012, and they are still working it for me.

They take 25% of the first check I get, if I ever win an appeal.

And I thank the people who have donated so far, please keep it going, I need to raise a lot more.

If you win, you'll get a lump-sum payment that goes back to the date you were considered disabled. It may be your original filing date; it could be before that date (mine was determined to be before I filed). You are given a lump-sum payment for that period, and it's usually in the tens of thousands of dollars. Your attorney gets 25% of that lump-sum award.

I filed myself and did not have to pay anyone.

Can we click your oreillysucks website to help with the ad revenue? Will do what I can and wish it was more.

Take care and I wish the best for you. You were a good person to take care of dad and I believe in the theory that people are rewarded eventually for the good they do.

Take care of yourself ...

Wish I could help, just got approved for SNAP today and still don't know how to pay Feb rent yet.

Hope you can get through to the appeal, my friends who have been through it went through exactly the same untimely process. I was denied because I have an advanced degree so I should be able to get an office gig... in my late 50s, right.

Good luck, if we can click on the site to help with ad revenue, let us know, I can at least help with that.

I loved my mother dearly, but we had a conflicted relationship. She was a winger & if she were still alive today she would be a bagger. I almost spewed my drink the day she said, "I think Bill O'Reilly is a good looking man!" I sent a couple of bucks your way in her honor.

Wish it could be more.

Thanks I appreciate it.

My Father was my whole life, and he was a great man. He was in world war two in the 3rd division infantry, and he won the bronze star, along with about 5 other medals. I lost my job in 1995 when they closed the plant I worked at and he supported me until he died.

What made is really hard is that I lived with him and took care of him, so we got as close as a Father and son could get. Then on top of that I am disabled and trying to get SSI, and he was also my financial support. I used his soc. sec. money and his pension money to pay the bills, and now he is gone and that money is gone with him.

My Mother died in 1998 so now I am all alone in his house with no family, I just sit here all day and night worrying about money and thinking about my dad. It's giving me sleep problems, depression, etc. And on top of that I have diabetes and high blood pressure. I take 5 medications a day and now they tell me it will take a year to get an SSI appeal hearing.

I can not get any financial help from anyone, I even applied for public aid and they tell me they are waiting to see what the SSI ruling is, so I sit here with no income and nobody helping me financially. Now if I was a single mother with a child or two I could get all the help I need, but since I am a single man I can not get anything, except food stamps and medical care.

I worked 17 years and paid into social security, and the thanks I get is screw you, wait two years and hope we approve your claim. Then on top of that I took care of my Father for the last 3 years and kept him out of a nursing home, which saved the state about $180,000. And they will not give me a dime in aid.

I just wonder what I am supposed to do if I run out of money and can not pay the bills anymore, I ask everyone I know that question and nobody has an answer for me. Do I just end up homeless, where will I live, how will I pay the truck insurance, etc. Nobody can answer any of these questions, and I just wonder where all this free stuff is O'Reilly and the Republicans talk about, because I sure am not getting any of it.

Then on top of all that I am still having trouble getting over the death of my Father, so I sit here in an empty house depressed and worrying about money. O'Reilly and the right claim that anyone with a sore back can get all this free money and Government aid, but I sure can not find it, except for food stamps and medical care I am no getting anything from the state or federal Government, nothing.
