New theory of mine...

Is it mere coincidence that as we see the climate melting down, along with the starfish; Fukushima; income inequality at levels that would embarrass The Gilded Age...

that we also see the legalization of pot across the country? (not that there's anything wrong with that).

After all...opiates* for the masses to suppress popular rebellion is not a new concept.

*Marijuana is not an opiate, but has sedative characteristics.

Revolutionary-era Americans were heavy imbibers. In fact, the first major protest after the Constitution was ratified was the Whiskey Rebellion, caused by the government's decision to levy a heavy tax on one of the favored drinks in the West.
